Gear Stick - too much side to side movement in gear

Can anyone tell me the cure for too much side-to-side movement [lateral slap]with my gear stick. This has now deteriorated to the point where it is making a clicking noise, changing into and out of gear, as well as causing sloppy changes.

Is something loose or worn?

Car is JDM Sti v7 [MY02]

probably the dowel pins that secure the linkage to the selector shaft. I have done 3 6 speed boxes now, and they have all had excessive play. New dowel pins cured it, not fully, but to an extent.

Sorry for hijack, steven have you had any problems with 6 speed props not matching rear diff flanges, bolt pattern etc?

Cheers

Rob

Only done 1 with a 6 speed prop Rob, and had no problems matching up to a Uk rear diff from a classic.
