Want to ship Exhaust from USA to here

I found a cheap exhaust I want. Package is 55x50x30in and it weighs about 45lbs.

It would be from someone on Ebay so I'd use that person's shipping to my carrier and then get them to ship it here. The ebay person wont ship to UK grrr.

I've tried looking on DHL but its confusing. Any offer advice/ideas?

Alternatively, I have a friend in Canada which I could get it shipped to and then arrange a pickup from there. This could be better as he can mark it as a gift - he works at a car place so he "made it me as a one-off and it isnt work much"

I got a pair of 911 headers from Performance Products in California a few years back I am sure it was only around £40-£50 with DHL and took about a week, yours would cost more cos the package is bigger and weighs more but it should be a bit cheaper than £876. A few weeks after they turned up (and I thought I had got away with import duty etc...) I got a bill for £90 from DHL:(
I would get it sent to Canada and then get your friend to make a new invoice for it;)

I think sometimes you pay import duty and vat. If its a private seller get him to put a lesser value on the package.

I bought a new Chris King headset from the US for the bike, in the Uk they retail at £120. I got this one for £60 with postage, the seller emailed the receipt for the warrenty and put 18 Dollars bike bearings on the package. Result no duty or VAT to pay.

Slightly more difficult with larger items I would imagine.

I've had a few things shipped from America and you have to pay about 10% or so duty, vat and a handling charge(usually about £10).

Thank you for visiting our website. We understand you would like international shipping rate information for a 45 lb. package with dimensions 55"x50"x30". This item's length plus girth measurement is 215". The maximum we can ship internationally is 108". We apologize we are unable to ship this item. (You might remind the seller we cannot ship items over 130" length plus girth domestically as well.)

If we can be of assistance to you in the future, please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you for using the United States Postal Service.

James
