Soup? Can take it or leave it. At a push I'd say Heinz Chicken or Mushroom. Something simple. Too many chunks of vegetable and it's too reminiscent of warm vomit.

[rant mode on] Yuck those are all awful:razz:, my wife makes the best minestone in the world and any other soup is like dish water. End of :cuckoo: [rant mode off]

Only joking, she also makes a very good Mushroom soup.

The new Heinz "Special" soups are very nice - Med. Tomatoe and Bacon is my fave.

Not a fan of the fresh Covent Garden soups - far too much salt in some of them.

Scooby-Doo 14 January 2005 01:24 PM

Won't eat packet or tinned soup due to the levels of salt in them. Home made with fresh Veg is the way to go.

J4CKO 14 January 2005 01:45 PM

home made chicken (jewish style)

Is that the one that cures all known diseases ?

STi-Frenchie 14 January 2005 02:07 PM

Home made grandma-style vegetable broth with parsnips, leeks, carrots, onions, barley, split peas, marrowfat peas and a beef shank or chicken and a couple of boiled potatoes in it. Mmmmm....perfect for those winter lunchtimes.

BexTait 14 January 2005 03:58 PM

My mum's turkey or chicken soup.
My gran's veg soup comes in close behind

*mugen*power* 14 January 2005 04:28 PM

Or.......

Have a roast dinner (chicken or beef) and not eat something that looks like someone else spat it out once already.

;)

It has been known to cure most things, yes. I often make it when I feel a bit run down, or the day after excessive consumption of wife beater.

Leslie 14 January 2005 06:01 PM

Heinz tomato has always been a winner, even better with a touch of cream added.

I personally really like Campbell's Clam Chowder New England style. Trouble is they only sell it the States which is a shame. No other clam chowder can hold a candle to it.

mj 14 January 2005 07:03 PM

if anyone lives in manchester, they must go to the Oddfellows arms in mellor, near marple and try the muscle chowder - mind blowingly delicious. - its a starter, you won't need to eat a main course :)

Nat 14 January 2005 07:06 PM

Those Convent Garden Soup company soups are lovely :D

J4CKO 14 January 2005 08:03 PM

'Those Convent Garden Soup company soups are lovely '

Some are, some are rank, their Beef, Thyme and Merlot was like brown water flavoured with rubbing Alcohol, utterley disgusting and nearly 3 quid.

Have to agree, home made is best every time, also you do have to watch the salt intake, however on most other counts most soups are fairly healthy, most are less than 300 calories per can and fill you up, ass opposed to an 800 cal sandwich, bag of crisps and a mars bar.

RESSE 15 January 2005 12:11 AM

In order of priority:

1. Wife's home made leek, potatoe and stilton soup.

2. Baxter's Lobster Bisque.

3. Cheese Soup @ The Hole In The Wall Bath.

Bravo2zero_sps 15 January 2005 12:29 AM

I'm with boxst as well on this, Heinz tomato soup on a cold winters day is a winner every time.
