lads what are the best pads to use with 6 pots ? and were is the best place to get them cheers marc

Pagid RS4-2-1 from Performance Braking in Monmouth, 01600 713117.

If they're the black CP5570 calipers, used with the 330mm diameter disc kit, then the AP part number for the pads is CP5070D51 and Pagid's part number is E1903 and they're out of stock.

If they're the red caliper, CP7040 used with 355 and 362mm diameter disc kits, then the AP part number is for the pads is CP7040D54 and I don't know what Pagid's part no is.

I've got a set of Ferodo DS2500 in my APs. And i'm pleased with their perfomance so far. I've not been on track with them yet, but on the road they have been very good. They produce alot of brake dust though.

I don't know what the pagid's are like in the AP caliper, but they squealed like a pig in my brothers evo6 (brembo). The performance was great though.;)

The EBC's imho are a much better pad as the ds2500s left nasty pad deposits all over the discs when used hard. Got mine from spikus. Bonus is the price, around £80 per set :D

Be careful with replacement pads sizes for AP 6-potters. If you're running 330mm discs on a Classic, the pad depth should be 17mm, not 18mm, or you'll have a hell of a job getting them to fit. AP only do DS2500 in this fitting now and their prices are, well, not the most competitive, shall we say.

I've used DS2500 and while they're a damn good pad and can take track days and winter work days, I have had trouble with pad deposits, too. Both AP and Ferodo deny knowledge of this problem, but it's happened twice to me, I can't think what else it could possibly be, and last time it happened, I just couldn't fix them without skimming and since theye were on the recommended wear limit (1.5mm total per disc) I binned them.

So I've gone back to the original pads, Pagid RS421, with the new AP discs which I prefer to the Ferodos as they require a little more pedal pressure, which effectively gives you more rear brake bias. I find this makes the car more stable when you really hit them hard, and they are as good as DS2500 in every other respect, if a bit more expensive.

I got mine off Alyn at AS Performance. He machined them down to 17mm for me and the price was good. Tel 0191 410 3770.

Don't remember but they were the ones with the 1mm reduced width as Richard says above :D and went in with no problems at all. (the 1st wet were the thicker ones & they were fun fitting ;), ask Floyd.

OK I agree it sounds pednatic but it's not in this case.

When you buy brake pads from AP they come in a family, so the CP5570 caliper takes a CP5070 family pad. Depending on the application you can get different pads from this family, for the scoobie its a CP5070D51, see here . All CP5070 pads are 152mm wide but these ones are 51mm high, if you had a smaller bell on the disc so more disc area you could run say 58mm high and get more pad area for the same caliper. AP call this dimension the depth of the pad. So depth is important when specifying AP pads.

In this case we're talking about the thickness of pad material on the pad, 17mm in this case, normally 18mm. If you call this depth there's scope for no end of confusion.

Incidentally once the discs are slightly worn the full thickness (nearly wrote depth!) pads will fit fine. Once you're on the second set of pads fitting after market 18mm thick will definetly be OK.
