Arghhh! What have I done?!

Yesterday, I decided to do a bit of tidying up under the engine bay, Nothing major, just a bit of spit and polish.

But this morning I go down to the shops, and my car (99 UK Turbo) is running like cr*p. Added to this that the speedo has stopped working, and the car keeps stalling when it's out of gear.

So, as has been advised on many a post before, I went out to reset the ECU and check any fault codes.
The outcome being that I get faults 31 and 33 (Throttle position sensor and Vehicle speed sensor).

Now, firstly, can anyone tell me where these are? And, secondly, are they likely to be repairable, or will I have to replace?

I should also mention that my odometer isn't working either.

Thanks,

Graham

When you say spit and polish what exactly did you do?

I gave most of the engine bay a wipe over with a damp cloth, and cleaned inside the airbox.

Thats all! I'm sure I didn't interfere with any electrics.

TPS is on the side of the throttle butterfly just below the TMIC as for the vehicle speed sensor, pass.

Also are u sure u plugged the MAF back in properly after you wiped out the air box?

The speed sensor is in the gearbox, its the wires going into it from the drivers side under the TMIC, this also operates the speedo, check that you didn't unplug it when wiping the gearbox.

Ok, none of the plugs near the gearbox were undone or loose.

But after I had a rummage around that area, the problem seems to have fixed itself, so there must be a dodgy connection somewhere.

It has also fixed the idle problem and the stalling.
Would you normally expect the speed sensor to cause stalling? If so, why?
