What First?
My Scoob is an MY99 Wagon, suspension bog standard until now. It has started to understeer far more noticeably recently (even in similar weather conditions - I drive the same route day-in day-out and know what grip to expect). The tyres are GSD2 F1s all round and have bags of tread left, and pressures are checked regularly - 33F-31R.
Assuming nobody has any gripes about the tyre pressures, what should I consider as an upgrade? I am sure that the bumpsteer mod from PowerStation will be my No.1 priority, but is it likely that other suspension components are becoming worn after 62k miles in 5 years? Is it worth replacing the rear drop link, or should I be looking at the bushes - if so which ones? How about the dampers or springs? Cheers. |
Have you checked your geometry settings recenty?
Drop links alone won't be worth it IMHO. Your dampers & springs will be well past their best, but you should feel that in other areas and not just understeer. I would upgrade the rear ARB and do the drop links all round. I've heard KYB adjustable dampers with Eibach springs are a good, cheap replacement. |
i have to agree
your suspension has probably had it :( KYB's are a nice replacement, easy enough to afford as well Also consider adding new factory or Group N hardened top mounts if you're going to spend $ on replading struts/springs may as well to the mounts @ the same time - they are definitely a wear item. good luck Jamie SubieGal.com |
