Godspeed discs - which would you recommend?? needs some help

i need new discs and pads all round on my MY00 and am going to go for the godspeed ones. my only dilemma is do i go for grooved and vented discs or go for solid grooved discs.

my first thoughts were vented as the standard subaru discs are.

any recommendations/ pointers??

regards

Zen

what size wheels do you have , or more importantly what size discs are you planning to get ?

I have a MY00 classic with standard 16" wheels and am trying to decide the best Godspeed route..

cheers

The Godspeed discs are great value for money. The grooved discs help keep the pads cleaner and the vents help reduce excess heat build-up in the discs. Reduces the chances of warping them and should help them last longer.

If you want extra performance, then there's no substitute for size (i.e. big discs). If you want the bigger discs that's when you need to worry about wheel size and what particular kit to go for e.g. use existing calipers or change those for Brembos or APs.

Grooved & vented standard size discs with good pads should be enough for the majority of fast road use.

Same here. Big :thumb: to Ian for his products & his service.

I got the Four pot Brembos with 335mm discs from him in a SN Group Buy to replace these . . . . .

And I liked them so much I got these matching 290mm discs for the rear.

If you intend to do any trackdays then go for grooved only cause the drilled ones will start to crack due to the amount of heat you are putting thorough them. I did have drilled and grooved but now run just grooved due to the reason above.

Yep that's what Ian recommended at the start of the Group Buy.

Grooved for trackday use.

Drilled & grooved for road use only. ;)

Unless I'm very much mistaken, there seems to be some confusion in this thread regarding "vented" and "drilled".

Vented discs have oblong holes along the outer edge, drilled discs have round holes on the braking surface.

IIRC, Ian does front discs vented, available plain, grooved or grooved and drilled.
He does a choice of rears for 99 onwards (again IIRC) in vented or solid, but agian, the choice is plain grooved or grooved and drilled.

According to Ian, don't choose drilled if you do trackdays, otherwise it's up to you.
