So...........anyone put aftermarket seats in a classic?
Noticed the other day that the driver's side seat in my '98 car was looking a bit tatty, especially where I get in and out.
Now I'm not one of those people who say those seats are uncomfortable, in fact I've done long distances on them and found them supportive and comfortable, but I might have a look at a new pair. Has anyone done this in a 4-door car? What seats did you put in? What was fitting like? Are the subframes a good fit? Is adjustment easy? Are you satisfied with the seats you chose? How do they compare with the OE ones, (if you have a classic with the grey/black seats). Any advice galdly received, TIA, Alcazar |

Scooby K from the East Sussex massive has some serious buckets. Fitted by TSL :)

hence why i put the monacos in and then took them out a week later:D in fairness, if i would have sat in them in a shop i probably still would have bought them. but if someone with them fitted to their car took me for a spin around the block the arse crunching ride would have deffo stopped me buying them. that's why if i do change them again it will be for a very supportive recliner that offers a bit of creature comfort aswell as good grip. not sure as to the best way round it, but when you take the scooby seat out, you lose the seat belt buckle. don't know how a makeshift one would fair come MOT time:confused: i'm sure there's ways round it though |
The seat belt clip is mounted on the runners, so as long as you modify the runners to take your seat of choice the seat belt shouldn't be a problem.
Scooby K has a cage and full harnesses so not a problem for him. Sorry I don't know what seats they are, but it's a weekend toy so ride comfort was not a big problem. |
Have to agree with dyney about scoobyk`s seats, very nice indeed, maybe worth posting a request for some piccies (he takes some nice piccies) ;) or send him a pm. have you seen tiny01`s post in members, hes struck a good deal for retrim in leather also looks good.

That's what I was looking for :)
I did say they were "serious buckets" :p |
Awesome seats, but I'm built like a rake and hardly fit in them. :D
|
whereas G`s built like Mr Clarkson ;) I suppose......
|
Jonah Lomu more like :D :D
G. :p :D |

And you wonder why I don't come on here very often ;)
Seats are Corbeau Pro Sports....personally I find them very comfortable (done 500 mile round trip in them), very supportive etc etc. Maybe not Jona Lumo size, but 6"4" and the wrong side of 16st ! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...cture139nb.jpg |

At least I didn't say Johnny Vegas :p :D |
ScoobyK: can you give me some idea of any probs you had fitting them also the harnesses?
They look awesome.........are they available in red? Where's a good place to buy? Thanks, Alcazar |
a
No probs fitting them as TSL did it ;) Harnesses are certainly no problem though mine tag onto the roll cage, otherwise needs a bolt (2) through the floor - the seats are a snug fit in the car, only probs I remember them having were slight mods to the subframe, but if you speak to Paul at TSL he will remember, know, and as always, help !
Best place I would suggest is to go direct to Corbeau ! |
Don't think Paul is there any more :( but I'm sure they will be able to help :D

I've got a pair of Cobra Daytonas which I can definately recommend. Never given me backache, even on long drives. :thumb:
