Boost hunts in 4th and 5th

On WOT max revs in 3rd, change to 4th back on WOT, boost hunts between 22psi and 16psi....ish, for about 4-5 seconds before settling at 20psi. Does the same in fifth. If I back off slightly it settles.

Have a feeling I may need a boost controller, but would like some input as to what others think.

Spec is-:

MY96
Rebuilt TD05 with garrett bairings (sp?)
Full de-cat
Up pipe
Gruppe-S un-equal headers
Link ecu (mapped by pat)
480cc injectors
uprated fuel pump
Pace front mount intercooler (V4 modified to fit)
Cosworth 3-bar map sensor
6.8kg billet flywheel
5 leaf paddle clutch
Lightened pulleys
Pipercross induction kit
VTA dump valve

There may be a couple of things I have missed. I was under the impression that the Link should be able to manage?. It was mapped to 1.25bar, although Pat did say that there was a discrepancy between that and the boost gauge.

Does the car pulsate whilst doing so?
Ie feels a bit on/off/on/off the power?

Tony:)

Sounds like you have an overboosting problem (the car hits the ecu set boost limit which cuts the boost until it drops down to a safe limit), possably due to your mods.
You need a boost controller (like you said) or the map just tuning down a little, its probably due to the cold weather, i take it you had the map done in summer?

It was mapped at the end Aug begining of Sep, and was nowhere near as cold as it is now.

Thanks for the reply Tony :)
