P1 alloy wheel question
I have 17" P1 alloys
last friday I hit a pothole (OSFront) at night whilst going x country.. it made an alimghty bang.. (50mph ish as it was muddy and I didnt see the pothole) on the monday I had 4 new tyres fitted, and they noticed that on the inside of the rim theres a ferking great dent in the rim. I was a bit shocked, and asked if it would be safe etc.. they said yes. ? Anyone think I might be risking life and limb with this situation? REALLY dont want to have to cough up for new rims.. can you even buy P1 alloys anymore? |
Personally I'd shop around for a second hand one and keep dented one as spare instead of spacesaver. API have a P1 they are breaking.

If you have to get a new one, around £170 plus VAT from the dealers...

Chrome:
I had a UK turbo with 17'' prodive wheels/Bridgstone SO2's. Hit a 150mm deep pothole at a good 60 mph and dented the front (realy hard) and the rear about 75% as hard. Had both straightened by a local wheel refurbisher, and drove another hard 23000 miles on them. The tyres were PERFECT, no damage. Claimed on the Council for bad road conditions and actually won after 3 months! :D Cost me £35 per wheel, inc balancing. 911 |
