DCCD - Do you use it?

Searching SN for info re DCCD I see many people confessing to not using it, or asking how to use it.

At the moment I am considering a Type-RA _without_ DCCD and was wondering if it really matters all that much, i.e. would I like many others end up never touching it if I had it?

I know what it does, and I am sure a few of the more elite/track drivers will vouch for it but in the real world full of many average at best drivers (me included) is it such a must have?

Please share your thoughts, opinions, experiences etc.

Cheers

Molds

Edit to add: -
On a non DCCD equipped R/RA what is the drive split, is it still 65R/35F? Is that the same as a "normal", or i.e. UK car?

How much do you think the value of an R/RA is affected by the exclusion of the DCCD? I see most people wanting it as par for the course as if the non DCCD equipped cars are less valued?

I think you hit the nail on the head matey.

I use the DCCD on track if I'm driving an RA with DCCD and it does help if you know how to use it.

However, I often drive RA's and other Imprezas without DCCD and tbh it doesn't bother me that much.

If the type RA does not have DCCD, I would check to see whether the car was a WRX type RA rather than an STi type RA - if it is the former the differences run deeper than just the DCCD. Check the SIDC faq for more info.

If it is a WRX type RA it will have the normal WRX drivetrain (engine backwards), meaning a viscous coupling centre diff with a 50/50 torque split.

Edited to add: the WRX type RA is worth less than the STi type RA, although how much will depend on year etc.

I've just bought a my99 RA with DCCD and like many others i dont know how and why ? :)
when should i use it ?
Whilst the subject of value was mentioned what price would you expect to pay for a fresh import mint 37Kmiles my99 STI type RA 4 door 555 V Limited in blue with DCCD and roof vent ?
(Think I have just bought a bargain)
