Legnum VR-4
Just got one to replace my poorly scoob, first impressions are (flame proof jacket on) it does everything the scoob does only a lot better, it's smoother, more comfortable, roomier and gives better MPG!!
I've driven it like I drove the scoob and even though it has a 2.5 V6 twin turbo it still gives better MPG and same performance. I still love the scoob to bits and wouldn't get rid if we didn't need the money but the Legnum is a helluva car, very underated if you ask me. Not bad considering it's 2 years older than my scoob. Don't shoot me down I'm only being honest. Also main dealers will service them and the price for a full oil and filters change, about £85 incl. vat. can't be bad, dealer is only 5 mins away too!! I always liked those:) Looks vaguely subtle:D, like a Legacy turbo, but quick as hell in reality.
I thought they were quite thirsty though? |
Looks like a stealth hearse!:) Still nice.

lol @ Mouser, quickest delivery service available!!
Cheers the boy, already a member! Dave |
Is that just the wagon equivalent of a Galant VR4? Always thought the VR4 was a nice street sleeper, very difficult to find good ones though.

You can get a saloon as well. I was told there are problems with the sequential turbos. The way that one kicks in after the other. At one stage I was considering getting one or and Legacy GTB. They have the same drivetrain as an EVO apparently. Its looks nice mate.

very nearly bought a vr4, still like them, great value :)

nice lookin but I'd have to get some different alloys.. probably 17/18" like this:

The turbos arn't sequential on the legnum they are two small turbos which spin up at the same time so there is no lag whatsover. The only weak point can be the tiptronic box but they are tough as well.
The drivetrain is the same as the EVO. Active Yaw Control etc. There is acres of space in the estate, people tend to call the estates Legnums and the saloon Galants. The VR-4 engine is silky smooth, I've been lucky and got a good-un, touch wood!! Nice looking wheels Frank, might upgrade a size or two next year as funds allow. Dave |

I had one for a while, my 1st impressions were not so good, didnt feel as fast, no big thrust on the turbo, but after 18 months i thought it was better than the scoob an more reliable, mine never broke once, I had the saloon 97 with 40k on, had belt done by scoob specialist (he found it a pain)
really miss it |
Nice motor, shame about the rims, guess you got it at the import sale at Donington. Not fair to judge it against an Impreza, as it's direct comparison is the Legacy GT-B, in which both cars have their pros & cons. Was at the sale with a Trader in Japan back in 1999 when I bought my first Impreza WRX, and one of the cars he bought was a 8 month old Legnum VR4 estate in pearleasent(?) white, cost him approx £11500 and would have cost half as much again to have it sitting outside my front door, should really have cancelled the wedding the following month but the missus said NO!!! (sigh)
