Andrei, have u considered adding some octane booster to your normal UL, or even SUL?

Have you bought a centre section, downpipe or boost gauge yet?

i find if i sit stationary this obviosly heat s the exhaust up!

Compared with starting her up from cold it sound 20 times better

!!

The hot weather may have helped the sound element!

Not really but what I did get from them this morning is a tank of SUL petrol - first ever time I used it in my UK MY00...

WOW! I still can't believe it! The car was completely transformed! Pulled so hard, accelerated so quickly, and then continued accelerating beyond the point where it used to go "flat" with the regular petrol. Blimey! I've been missing THIS all this time...

I never seriously considered using SUL. I read the FAQ section and some of the posts where most people agreed that the difference between UL and SUL is marginal, especially on UK cars. Well, I thought, I won't bother then. But today I went to Silverstone to see the Loctite Rally and thought - "it's a nice drive up there, so may be should give this SUL thing a go"

And what an amazing result!!! I can't think what else could've changed the car so dramatically if it wasn't the petrol. On a hot day like today one would expect the performance to decrease - all other things help constant, and the only "variable" was the SUL...

I am not sure if I will now use the SUL all the time - due to its price. But for "special occasions" - definitely!

If you haven't tried it yet - I highly recommend that you give it a go.

PS. Oh, another thing that I noticed today is that the sound of the car changed as well - was louder, deeper, more "agressive". Is this due to SUL too? Or was there just a dead rat stuck in my SS backbox? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Sunil

What do you run in your car??

(Sorry to hijack the thread)

On a separate note, what's the deal when changing from UL to SUL after you have been running UL? Does the engine management adjust itself? Just remembering back to when I picked up my car I was advised to make a choice between UL and SUL and stick to it rather than swapping between the two.

When I got my MY96 in April first thing I did (after reading a lot about it) was to fill up with 97 and reset the ECU. Didn't notice much difference but I had only just got the car....

97 only for special occaisions ?? Come on, live a little !!

Chris, i only run BP 97 SUL as i find it works best, esp with the Link but used it all the time before anyhow. Also going to be using octane booster soon!

You DO NOT need to reset the ECU, it learns graudally but you can disconnect battery for an hour or so and then go for a normal mixed drive (dont kane it!) to speed up the process.

Cheers

I've occasionally got 'caught short' and had to fill my MY93 WRX with 95UL.

After refilling with SUL, it normally just takes several bouts of hard acceleration (usually 3 - 6 attempts) before the ECU works out the increase in fuel grade and adjusts accordingly.
