Trust you cleaned the pipes and was the solenoid very clean too?
Have you just fitted a full decat to the car? Major changes such as this can induce the fuel cut issue.
I tried every trick (Sti v3) suggested, but ended up fitting a boost controller from Blitz and never had a problem since, runs perfectly for 2 1/2 years now.(@1.3 bar)

Today I would look at the Apexi acvr.

If you can, get it to a serious specialist, I used Power Engineering, but Roger Clark, TSL, Power Station all come to mind, probably others too.

Good luck, I know how frustrating this problem is.

I think I may be getting the same problem?

I think I may be getting the same problem; I've noticed since fitting a full de-cat straight system on my 1995 UK Turbo. Sometimes when planting the foot when sitting from about 2.5K - 3K revs the rev meter flips upto about 5K then back to 3K with the engine sounding like it has a slipping clutch but it doesnt do this all time. Is this over boosting with having the de-cat system on? or should I start saving for a new clutch? I've booted it a few times through the gears with no problems at all and the problem seems to be around 3K revs....

over boosting is when the peak pressure given by the turbo exceeds that which is preset.
ie, a std. car should hit 0.9bar, if it were to hit a regular 1.0 bar or higher then it would be overboosting.
your description is to do with engine speed (rpms) and therefore more than likely your clutch is actually knacked already and you should be getting a replacement asap

yeh i do have a de-cat + exhaust fitted and a apexi ecu, with the boost solenoid kit
can i get the apexi ecu mapped to solve this problem in sted of buying a acvr

i had rc developments map it for me, should i use some one else. (im in the cheshire area)

CustomScoobyIOM 22 December 2004 01:12 PM

Your ECU map is obviously sh*te mate if you are overboosting. The Apexi Power FC ECU is totally mappable.

Jon.

lol hummmmm think i may need to use some one else

any one know who i should try

I had Andy F come down from Edinburgh to Manchester area last month.
My Apexi is mapped spot on.
I`d try and find someone to share the travelling costs with who needs their car doing at the same time.
I know Stu Barnes is driving up there in the new year, it might be worth him paying Andy to come here if you share his costs.
PM me if you want more details etc.

OK thanks for the reply....Definitely be the clutch, hmmm not good. Any one any pointers for cheapest place to get a new clutch and how much it will roughly cost? Presume whole engine will have to be dropped to get at the clutch?

911 22 December 2004 06:14 PM

Engine stays in, box out from under the car. Bitch of a job (believe me).
Don't know where you are Dicky, but get a copy of Jap Performance Magazine, and there are stacks of advertisers there who know what they are doing.
In the Midlands, I would go to www.apiengines.co.uk
