Stinks of petrol through air filter

As above, when sitting stationary there is a strong odour of petrol, after lifting the bonnet and having a good sniff around I have found that its coming from the induction kit, upon removal everything is dry and not petrol trace but if I start it up again the smell returns, is this normal??, have slightly overfilled the car with oil but not sure if this will make any difference.

also a slight hesitation on accelaration between 6k and 7k not sure if this is related

thanks in advance

Andy - if you do a search on 'petrol smell' you will find the two threads started by me recently:

'petrol smell'

'petrol smell in car sometimes'

There have been a few suggestions. Basically, I get the petrol smell in the warm up phase during freezing or near freezing temperatures (say under 6C). It's in the engine bay and it can be bad if you have the heater/aircon on. Once the car is warmed up, the problem seems to disappear.

Does your car behave like mine?
Do any of the suggestions on either thread help? (I'm not sure yet?)
When you talk about 'induction kit', is yours' aftermarket or factory standard?

Paul
