how do you clean yours ?

hi all

assuming that it isn't as cold as a nun's chuff tomorrow, i'm going to give my car it's last proper clean this year..... polish and all !

the question is....

How do you clean yours and what do you use ?

i have been using autoglym stuff up to now, but i got a meguiar's gold class polish a couple of days ago, so i want to see how this turns out.

thanks folks

Chris

:( Every 3 months I take it for a service...

In between, it might get the odd petrol-station jetwash, or even the odd domestic cold jet-wash. Can't keep it pristine, I'm afraid - not at 1000 miles a week.

StickyMicky 21 December 2004 10:15 PM

jetwashed down, handwashed with hot water and my own blend of soap and waxes, jetwashed down again and dried with a chamois

and this is now done 2 (two!!) times a day :D

goto work, clean the car
go out at dinner time to do the banking and stuff, come back and clean the car :D

they say i will wash it down to bare metal you know ;)

Wash once a week but hosed every day to take mud/grit off. Then about every month Meguairs 3 part treatment. Can be topped up weekly if required by Meguairs quick wax:D
Clean the wifes lexus weekly also but only use autoglym to polish it.

Swissol for me - not cheap but 1 pot of wax will last for years and gives an amazing shine.

BTW - don't use a chamois - get yourself a silicon blade - far quicker and a much better finish.

Megs is a great brand to start with.
Heres the steps for a proper hand detail:
Wash with car wash soap and lambswool mitt.
Dry with waffle microfibre cloth.
Clay entire car with clay bar and quick detailer.
Dry car again.
Use a hand glaze or pure polish.
Remove with microfibre cloth.
Finally wax and jobs done.

I never wash my clothes mate my missis washes them :D

Do you think its gonna deteriorate and waste away over night if you dont wash it twice a day? ........sorry but i think its pretty comical.

Have you ever watched ''As good as it gets'' with Jack Nicholson?? :D

I don't wash my car - it'll only get dirty again.

I don't wash my scrote - it'll only get dirty again.

Give up, drink beer, drive around in a dirty car and make ya missus vomit every time she licks ya balls.

Here is a washing tip (this was of help to me at the weekend) to keep your hands warm.

Put on a pair of gloves (fairly thin) then put rubber gloves over the top. Your hands stay warm and dry.

This worked for me, but I felt a bit of a wally wearing pink kitchen gloves (even though I am a girl) to clean the scoob.

I stupidly thought my car would stay clean until xmas.

We've got a load of illegal immigrants near where I work to do mine.

£15 inside and out and they only tried to nick my CD's twice.

scoobfan 22 December 2004 12:16 PM

I never use a Carwsh or Jet wash/Brush (You know why)

I hand wash using Meguiars Soft Gel

Chamois down and then use Meguiars NXT wax to finish.

Then if i'm in the mood i use Amorol for detailing (Door handles, rubbers etc)

Then finally Meguiars Tyre Gel.

I used the above on my Beemer before shows and it always looked great!!!

TAINTON 22 December 2004 12:41 PM

I try wash mine every fornight depending on how dirty it is really.

I use Wax Wizxard's Own Shampoo (doesnt strip off existing wax) then use Swissol Pre Cleaner followed by Swissol Wax.

Tyre Gel or Back To Black on Tyres and Trim ;)

GE90 22 December 2004 01:14 PM

Waxed with Swissol (pre-waxed if time permits) about every 6 months. Using a PH neutral shampoo, like Swissol, the wax really does seem to last for about 6 mths.

Try to wash once a week, removing road grim and salt etc in the winter, and damn flies in the summer!

Nevetas 22 December 2004 01:45 PM

I wash mine with Meguires shampoo, then dry her off. The every now and again used Swissoil clay bar, then cover the lot in swissoil.

Every 6 months I diamond Bright inside and out. Like a protective wax (scotchguard).

It's not good for paintwork, door seals, locks etc... to wash your car when it's very cold..!

Plus if someone slips over on the ice you've created your up sh~t creek..!
