immobiliser removal
 

hello all , just wondering if it is possible to remove the immobiliser on my 99 impreza. its for a rally car and i could do without it.

you need to speak toi someone who does ecu repairs, I found someone when I was going to but a bigger engine in a previous car (mine didnt have the immob so I'd have never got it running again), or change the ecu for a motec / power fc (i'm not sure if this is the case for a subaru, but most are built in to the ecu.I have an import MY95 so I cant check)

If its a UK supplied car with the standard fit Sigma Alarm/Immobiliser, then this can be removed (provided that your insurance company has no objections) so that you no-longer have the passive arming fuel cut & crank inhibit and can discard the radio keys. However, there is also a factory transponder immobiliser built into the ignition key (which is only single circuit and not insurance approved - hence the need for the Sigma Cat 1) and this will more than likely work through the engine ECU, and as discussed will be more difficult to remove. The good news is that this system is transponder operated and so may not be such an inconvenience on the rally car.
