Bad films

If you start watching a film that isnt as good as youd hoped, do you switch off or stick it out? I usually stick it out then moan when it finishes!

tiggers 19 December 2004 03:11 PM

Yep me too. Would have turned 2 Fast 2 Furious off if I wasn't watching it on a plane and I did walk out of Mad Max beyond Thunderdome, but generally I'll stick it out to the end.

tiggers.

Nicks VR4 19 December 2004 03:14 PM

Stick with it just incase it gets better :D

MJW 19 December 2004 03:14 PM

I normally bat it out till the finish. There's only two films I've got up and switched off because they were so bad, both Baz Levinson films - Romeo & Juliet and Moulin Rouge. The talentless tosser should stick to 5-minute music videos.

Bubba po 19 December 2004 03:18 PM

I turned off "The Fast and the Furious" the other night. Another one I turned off was one starring Vanilla Ice that I forget the name of. I started to watch it with the best of intentions, but when I saw his goony face my head went tight and I had to turn it off.

mj 19 December 2004 03:21 PM

I endured the Jap version of The Grudge the other night hoping it would improve, but it didn't seem to, and I was still left

Other than that I'll just nod off on the setee.:)

corradoboy 19 December 2004 03:30 PM

The Core has to be amongst the worst sci-fi/effects films in recent years. Still stuck it out 'til the end though  Van Helsing and League of Gentlemen were both poor, as were both X-Men. I was disappointed by Blade Trinity too :(

I think we need a new generation of action movie directors and actors. Cameron/McTiernan/R Scott/T Scott/Verhoeven ect and Schwarzenegger/Willis etc are all getting on, and the new ones following aren't producing the goods. AVP by that God-awful PS Anderson is a prime example. With core material of such quality, how could he make such a mediocre movie  Should have been the sci-fi smash of the year, instead of forgettable. But then again, Alien Resurrection was also dire

STi-Frenchie 19 December 2004 04:11 PM

I sometimes think when I'm watching a bad 'un "Life's too short" and switch over to something else. Biggest load of crap I've watched in a long time was The Royal Tenebaums which every review I read raved about it...it lasted 30 minutes before I gave it the push-button treatment.

16vmarc 19 December 2004 04:17 PM

You wanna try enduring Bottle Rocket, Sky Movies 9 @ 20:00 btw

:D

Alas 19 December 2004 04:38 PM

Have to agree with Moulin Rouge - lasted about 5 mins and then on to the PC. Same with Chicago. Its not I don't like musicals as I think Cabaret is ace but Ewan Mcgregor singing:eek: and Catherine Zitty Jones dancing:eek:
Not for me.
Alas

CooperS 19 December 2004 04:43 PM

I walked out of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, utter tripe, only time ever.

16vmarc 19 December 2004 04:57 PM

I watched Fear & Loathing twice, second time i quite enjoyed it. I did read the big inbetween though!

:D

Tiggs 19 December 2004 05:03 PM

watched eternal sunshine of the something or other last week....gave it half hour then bailed out...sooooooooo crap!

FASTER MIKE!! 19 December 2004 05:42 PM

90% of the time i'll watch it through just in case it gets better

mike:)

David_Dickson 19 December 2004 06:11 PM

If im at the cinema, I will stick it out, purely because im tight. "I have paid my money, im staying till the end"

At home either tv or dvd, I just do something else and leave it on in the background giving it the occasional glance.

Jerome 19 December 2004 06:58 PM

I normally see the film through, but Nicole Kidman's Dogville was so bad we not only stopped it, but took it back to the video store and exchanged it for something else.

andypugh2000 19 December 2004 07:02 PM

I remember walking out of only 2 films in the cinema and they were Eric the viking and pretty in pink, just wound me up something chronic, went for a big mac ;)

Ozzy Scoobourne 19 December 2004 09:46 PM

I walked out of Armaggedon. Oh no there's a meteor or some sh!t coming for us. Thats ok, we'll send some american oil rig workers to sort it. I would also add the sixth sense in there aswell.

andrewdelvard 19 December 2004 10:01 PM

I remember a film from a few years ago called 'Pret a porte' something to do with super models. God is was so awful. I was falling asleep. Walked out after an hour or so.

Easily one of the best films of 2004 - you should have stuck with it - admittedly you have to concentrate and it does require some brain power, but it is very very clever.

Battle Royale 2 - Requiem
I thought that this was a low budget piece of poo, it was so badly cut in places that even my slow brain could spot the rough cuts. The story line had quite a novel idea, which was to use a group of schoolkids to hunt another group of kids who happened to be terrorists created by their Governemnet who were hiding on an island. It could of been so much, much better. I would like to of seen what QT could of done with the story.

I thought I was the only one who hated these movies.

messiah 20 December 2004 09:55 AM

The Exorcist bored me rigid - knocked it off after 20mins...

still, it lasted longer than Charlie's Angels, that lasted 6 mins - I thought I was watching a special extended edition of a shampoo ad...

Anything to do with your username? Did you find yourself screaming "Arrghh, it burns!" at the TV?

popeye 20 December 2004 10:04 AM

I remember renting "Roxanne" with Steve Martin from a video shop years ago. I also remember taking it back the next morning and asking for a refund.

FrenchBoy 20 December 2004 11:00 AM

Only ever walked out of one film - 'Dirty Weekend' by Micheal Winner.

Wanted to walk out of the Blair Witch but was so stupid with shock at how bad it was I was convinced it had to get better. Just as it did - it ended! The only time I've ever felt genuinely 'cheated' and deceived after watching a film -I still get angry about it now.

Also wanted to walk out of Moulin Rouge. If i had been on my own I would have!! A very fine example of an shower of sh1t and one of the reasons i really can't stand Ewan Mcgregor (apart from his fecking appalling Alec Guiness impression in Star Wars)

kar 20 December 2004 02:36 PM
