how long do you get for chrimbo??

Went in to work on friday, (half day) and was getting ready to close out some stuff prior to me having a couple of days off next week

i have a fair amount of holiday left, due to helping close out some major concerns with clients and was going to carry it over until next year..

at 10am my manager turns up with a slight problem,, the powers that be have decided that only 1 day can be carried over until next year

so as of 12 oclock friday i am now on holiday until 04th jan, and still have a days leave to come..

bloody hell 17 days at home

anyone else in the same position??

We can carry-over 9 days - or anticipate 5 days ..... but with 32.5 days leave and 26 days Flexi-Leave it hardly matters really!

:D Pete ;)

Not allowed time off with the NHS;)

fast bloke 19 December 2004 02:02 AM

pretty much be drinking company beer from Monday coming until Tuesday after the new year. We can work if we want, but given that I hit the years targets in September, no-one is expecting to see me anywhere that isn't the free bar :D

andrewdelvard 19 December 2004 10:13 AM

Work until Wednesday and then I'll be off until more or less the start of February. Going into Hospital for an op' on Jan 7th which will put me out of action for a number of weeks. Being self-employed thats not a great start to the year, but hey it could be worse :)

Suresh 19 December 2004 10:19 AM

The Dutch are mean with their Bank Holidays - we get even fewer here each year than you do over on the Island *and* they never have compensating B.Hols if one unluckily falls at a weekend.
This year as both Christmas holidays fall at the weekend, there are ** no days off ** :( whatsoever. Which means I have to take some of my six weeks annual leave :) to come over and visit family and friends in the UK this year.

Just bank holidays and Christmas eve for me, going skiing on the 17th of Jan so need whats left of my leave for that, plus I am on call over new year, not bothered as never relly do anything so may as well sit there earning money.

Pete, with all that leave, do you work in local government by any chance ?

ScoobyDoo555 19 December 2004 11:23 AM

got loads of time off. 3 weeks @ Christmas. ( I work in Education ;))

I've got all Christmas and Jan and on, made redundant and unemployed!

Craig W 19 December 2004 11:39 AM

I break up on the 23rd, have to work on the 27th and 29th, then back on the 4th.
However i'm on the doors every night from the 16th - new year :(

_Meridian_ 19 December 2004 12:35 PM

Work is closed only on the actual Christmas and Boxing days, otherwise people are in, including New Year's Day. Personally I'm taking one concession day (one of the few good things about being a civil servant) plus two holiday days, so after working until late on Christmas Eve I'm not back until the 2nd. Oh, and I'm on-call for Xmas and Boxing days.

I get 12 days - from the 24th Dec to 4th Jan - and its compulsory (unpaid) holiday as the company is dead over Christmas so they cant afford to pay everyones wages! The compulsory holiday will be paid however in Feb, along with an extra days pay and 90quid one off payment on top, so it works out well really! Im having to carry 9 days of holiday over to next year as I wont be able to use it up!

Almost tempting to change jobs early next year, however take all my holiday at once, then start the new job almost straight away, handing in my notice once I get towards the end of the holiday.....

Nicks VR4 19 December 2004 10:22 PM

I had a similar issue had loads of Hols but kept getting told no you cant take the time off you need to be in meetings

So after I threatened to take 6 weeks off or every Friday and Monday off for months or pay me
I got paid for it... BAD idea tax man took shed loads :(

chris's scooby 19 December 2004 10:22 PM
