Is Scoobynet Plus Membership worth it?

My finger was hovering over the Paypal pay button a few mins ago but I stopped and thought I'd ask anyone who has signed up.
Is it worth it?
Are the savings in the shop for real amongst other things?
Thanks :)

Patt@firstime 18 December 2004 04:07 PM

I was in exactly the same posistion a couple of days ago and decided to check it out before :)

Anyone?

Why not do a poll?

andrewdelvard 18 December 2004 04:19 PM

I thought of that but it would be open to people who haven't got Scoobynet plus membership so wouldn't be accurate.

Thanks for the heads up buddy :D

IanW 18 December 2004 04:37 PM

Yup there are savings to be had, if you look in the shop you can see that suppiers are offering reasonable discounts to Plus Members :D

In some cases the discounts on one purchase is enough to cover the £25 outlay!

mj 18 December 2004 04:39 PM

but, how many members of SN even own a scoob :p

not me, do you andrew?

True enough, I saved £250 on the purchase of my WRX for a £25 outlay.

mj 18 December 2004 04:43 PM

heres a thought - if you buy the SN+ membership through the shop do you get it for £22.50? :freak3:

Nope, so the product list becomes a little more restricted for us. I was looking at this http://shop.scoobynet.co.uk/Product.asp?ProductID=491 then went on to look at the membership. I mean £25 to help Scoobynet jolly along is fine by me as it's the best year round free entertainment I've ever come across but......I'd still be interested in more feedback.

IanW 18 December 2004 04:46 PM

Andrew this post form Shaun really sums up what you get from it :-

From the feedback we have from present and past SNPLUS members is that the forum access is perhaps one of the least reasons they purchase the membership for. Without doubt the biggest reason is for support of the community in helping to support the site's viability and sustainability. We also get a huge percentage that become SNPLUS members because of the very good discounts that are available on ScoobyShop.

Regards,
Shaun.

Some of the competitions that have been open to Plus Members previously money could not get you some of those prizes! :D

mj 18 December 2004 04:58 PM

true.

but a free week at chrimbo would be a nice gesture from SN to its regulars, hell, we might even join on the strength of it
:)

My husband joined and has yet to use the membership to get any benefits from the stockists. I think that he was also meant to be sent a keyring or something, this never happened. I think the only thing that he has got for the £25 is access to other forums that you don't get if you don't pay.

You need to request the membership pack, this is done via the UserCP ( http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/profile.p...uestmemberplus )

See webby there is another couple that could do with joint membership at a reduced rate so we don’t have to fork £50 for two lots of standard membership, if you go to a gym or something of the like they do a reduced rate for couples, even or local motor club has reduced rates for couples so come on then how about it!!!

Buckrogers 19 December 2004 01:51 AM

IMHO not worth it, to be frank.

A lot other other forums offer far more for far less.

Marky-San 19 December 2004 09:13 AM

I only used it to get some parts for my Impreza - worth it if you intend some modifying or blow your engine up like me. If its just forum use I wouldn't bother.

The extra forums are utter waste IMO - probably seemed a good idea at the time for extra attraction of buying it. The priviledge of posting in the 2 other For Sale forums is OK, except all the real action still seems to be in General.

I've got an ATR now, but even if I kept my Impreza I would not be renewing.

scoob_babe 19 December 2004 10:50 AM

As per Huxley, we didn't want to pay for 2 lots of memberships when we had the scoob.

Ian

My husband did this and still didn't get anything when he orignally joined up.

As for joint membership it's not worth it as we only need the one membership to get discounts.

IanW 19 December 2004 06:32 PM

Dee,

In that case ask your husband to send a mail to webmaster@scoobynet.co.uk with his username etc...and I am sure that shaun will look into it and rectify it for him.

Ian

He'll do that, thank you :)

I will.

However, just looking on the control panel, my address details that I entered were no longer there. Maybe it was a glitch in the system at the time.

As it's not a life-critical matter, I've not bothered chasing it up.

I re-entered the details and clicked on request a pack.

:D

But no answer yet Wonder Wagon

MattW 21 December 2004 10:07 AM

Mine has just run out. I joined last year and got £50 discount on an Mp3 player, so it paid for itself. I don't have a Scooby so the parts list is a bit redundant also.

However it was nice not to see these damn adverts at the bottom of the posts. On the negative side, the keyring annoyed the feck out of me jingling away, it actually lasted about 6 weeks before the chain broke, I'd fixed it numerous times.

The car sticker, assuming it's still the same, is individual letters, and i fecked it up as i didn't realise.

So in answer, if it saves you some money in the shop Yes, if not then No.
