Best rock/metal album of 2004

I've left out a few I'm sure but as we've only got room for 10 on the poll...

You can have multiple answers...please list other nominations in the thread.

Evanescence - Fallen

STi-Frenchie 18 December 2004 02:00 PM

Damn, it's been a good year for rock music ! :)

STi-Frenchie 18 December 2004 02:01 PM

Iwan - Fallen was released in 2003 if I'm not mistaken ?

Iwan 18 December 2004 02:02 PM

<fx - runs off to check>

So it was, doh!

MattW 18 December 2004 02:08 PM

Iwan, You can have Anywhere but Home though.

I would n't class some of those acts as Rock though, some of them are very definitely Metal acts.

STi-Frenchie 18 December 2004 02:33 PM

Well....best rock/metal album then :)

St. Anger was a 2003 album

Threshold - Subsurface.

Superb album!

Is the Alter Bridge album good then, ordered it off play.com a couple of days ago. Not actually heard anything by them just going on the basis of creed.

STi-Frenchie 18 December 2004 06:24 PM

The Alter Bridge album is probably my pick for album of the year. I think I played it non-stop for about a month. There's not a duff track on it and I would go as far as to say that they are better than Creed were and that's saying something. Myles Kennedy's vocals are really impressive and "In Loving Memory" is an absolute corker of a track.

That's a good CD, especially the new/rare tracks like 'Missing'.

Of the other choices, the only one i like is Rammstein and its only got one vote so far. :(

Wonder who that was  ;)

New_scooby_04 18 December 2004 11:19 PM

Marillion- Marbles

or

Rammstein Reise Reise

scoob_babe 19 December 2004 10:31 AM

Velvet Revolver :D:D Off to see them in January too :D:D:D:D:D

SupaMiniCupa 19 December 2004 01:11 PM

Voted for COF on the basis of title track only... I've been out of touch with Rock this year :(

As an aside Razorlight's 'Up All Night' has been my favourite of the year...

the moose 20 December 2004 08:10 AM

Green Day - American Idiot

STi-Frenchie 20 December 2004 08:21 AM

I didn't include that one in the poll although I know it's very popular...I'm going to pick up my copy of it today - can't resist any longer :)

Big a1 21 December 2004 12:04 PM

Just got Alter Bridges album and after a few listens sounds like one of the best albums of the year.

Another vote for Green Day also.

drumsterphil 21 December 2004 01:00 PM

Argh, ****e - I need 3 -

Slipknot : Vol 3
COF - Nyphetamine
Fear Factory - Archetype

Can't split them tbh. Based on standout individual tracks I'd go for Fear Factory but album as a whole probably Cradle Of Filth.

Still haven't got round to getting Velvet Revolver yet.

What no McFly or Busted in the options? ;):D

STi-Frenchie 21 December 2004 01:51 PM

I think Busted's last offering was in 2003 Phil but I'll google it to be sure :)

BTW - multiple choices are allowed.

lankypicker 21 December 2004 05:18 PM

megadeth-the system has failed

SJ_Skyline 21 December 2004 05:20 PM

I was under the impression that Guns n Roses greatest hits was actually called Appetite for Destruction..... ;)

Velvet Revolver gets my vote :D
