celica vvti
 

i currently drive an rb5 but am looking for a complete change, i love my scoobs dont get me wrong but im after a coupe for a change.
my first choice was a honda integra type r/dc5;

does anyone know anything about these cars? good bad or ugly?
celica is a vvti 190 with tiptronic gears and a bucketload of mods

Gotta be the Integra, more of a drivers car and looks better IMO and way faster. The Celica is a bit, er...OTT

Celica good car drive, very good handling, fantastic noise on full chat. One thing that will get to you though from switching from the scoob is the traction in the wet. It's not bad, but due to the very short gearing it can quite easily spin up the wheels in 2nd and 3rd exiting bends/roundabouts etc - and thats at relatively lowish revs (3000rpm).

The other thing that might irritate you is the point at which the 2nd cam comes into life (6K-ish). which mean LOTS of stirring about with the gears to get it on the boil and keeping it there. Fine if your having a mad moment, but a pain in the arse if you just want to make "moderate" progress. Rather like the scoob, it's all or nothing...but at much higher revs and alot more inflexible.

This is a problem which I personally have with these types of engine. There is lots of fun factor in there, but (as with me) it can wear off and you can get rather bored and irritated by it when driving at normal(ish) road speeds. - Just something to take on bored and try for yourself if you go for a test drive :)

Haven't driven one with tiptronic gears though. Doubt it would be that different.

Have to say celica isn't a bad car but the Integra Type R (dc2) does everything better, you have to work them like has been said to keep them on the boil but they will happily potter about like a normal economical 1.8 motor under 5/6k revs when you're not in the mood. Very fun, involving & rewarding cars even though they're FWD ;)

Plus amazing performance once moving for a N/A 1.8 engine comparable to a UK turbo (218bhp) :D

That Celica looks awful!!!!!!!! Chavvy max power style. Teg every day for me.

Must stop playing Need for Speed Underground 2 as the Celica is looking quite nice.

On a serious note, I actually like the celica's looks, it's unique.

But having been out in a DC2 and a VVTi celica, for driving experience the Teg IS better. As said above, if you want to drive the Teg normally it's easy to do so, whereas the Celica, demands you all the time and becomes hard work. If you want to let rip then plant your foot on the honda's floor and you will grin from ear to ear.

that's a Veilside show car, very nice. Never understand why folks on here instantly dislike a car with a bold body-kit but each to their own :)

I love body kits.

But that one is pants - the only decent veilside I've ever seen that looked "right" is the Supra one (except for the rear spoiler - which is just as silly as the celica).

Took it for a spin again today....I forgot to mention about the torque steer in the damp :eek:;):D
