Who killed Cleopatra / Ancient Rome/Egypt history

Saw a rather interesting programme about a theory that Cleopatra was murdered by Octavian rather than a suicide. Anway, can't find any info on the net about this. Anyone any ideas. Researcher was a lady called Dr Fox I think. Her theory seemed to hold water.

Also - anyone recommend any good books on the history of this time, esp the Roman and Egyptian empires etc. Not something too unweildy and textbook like, but rather something readable in a few days type thing. ta muchly :)

Octavian?

Wasn't that he ostrich from Pipkins?

Am I showing my age?

:D

For those who don't know, Octavian changed his name to Augustus (after the month that he gained power I think) Caeser.

I'm mistaken then. Although he was certainly Octavian and changed it to Augustus when he took power. :)

kbsub - do you agree with the findings of the programme? Seemed more convincing than the 'official' story. Mind you, there's gotta be a lot of stuff like that dotted through history that we'll never know about!

What, like non-existing weapons of mass destruction? ;)

I probably do agree, sounded very convincing , but these programmes always do make there argument convincing , otherwise woudn't be much point of the programme !
I mean its a 2000 year old story, bound to been subject to a bit of "spin" along the way :)
