Coolant temp of 86c on a run without boost?

Does this seem about right? The temp gauge is bang in the middle with its reading but the scoobymonitor says 86c. I'm wondering if I need to run a cooler thermostat. Dont want to pay the money for the zerosprts version though!

nothing wrong with that.

if you sit in traffic at idle the water temps will climb beyond that. You have nothing to be concerned about.

dont most manufactureres disable the coolant level display between about 70 and 90 degs.C?
to stop punters unduely worrying about fluctuations.....

my own car runs at 86 unless as Adam says its sat in traffic then it goes to 92degs.C when the fan cuts in and brings it down to 90degs.C

Yep here to 86-92, on a hot day 96 then the fans do there thing..........

86 stop worrying, mine hits 96 on a hot day. Bob Rawle was concerned when he mapped my car because it got so hot on WOT runs we had to slow down, still FMIC, AC rad and then water rad not surprised.
