finding the owner of a property
 
anyone help me, i've been looking for a takeaway premises for QUITE a long while now,
i seen a empty shop,in a parade of shops, no body living there,
the shops near by don't know

ps anyone know any empty shops near their area (yorkshire)
£10 finders fee if sucessful (seriously)

ww8, Use the online land registry service. It'll cost you about 2 quid, but will give you the name and address of the owner

The only problem (as I have found) is that the address for the owner is usually the same as the property as people don't update the details! You will certainly find out who the owner is and usually who the lender is as well if there is a mortgage.

Banks don't tend to be too helpful in tracking the owners down, but a bit of digging in online directories can be quite fruitful. Failing that, a letter to the lender explaining the situation and asking if they will forward your request on may work, otherwise ask your solicitor.
