godspeed disks?

will there be any improvement over standard with a set of godspeed vented and grooved disks or are they just crap disks that look nice? also, will i need different pads? the car is a 99 uk turbo.

Grooved disc's will help to deglaze the pad but all in all they just look nice :D
You can use your original pads but you may as well upgrade them to get any real braking performance.

People on here tend to go for
Ferodo DS2500, Pagid's or the new EBC redstuff ceramics

Piece of cake to change discs and pads, you will probably need to remove one of the caliper bolts, and loosen the other, swing the caliper out of the way and then swap the disc and refit, I did all four wheels and pads in twenty minutes recently!!!!

The Godspeeds are an excellent upgrade.

They will improve your braking efficiency considerably, and are not just a cosmetic disk as was possibly suggested above.

Disks are easy to change yourself, as are the pads. make sure you get plenty of copper grease on the back off the pads but don't get it on your skin as it isn't nice stuff.

The pads mentioned above are all excellent, and its largely down to personal preference and driving style.
