COIL PACKS?

Hi, need to replace coil packs, well at least i think i do. my93 wrx comes on boost and when revs are around 4k - 5k seems to die/splutter. have few mods and run pfr7b plugs. theres no action on the knocklink except when spluttering happens, then we have the christmas tree effect. anyway, is a subaru dealer the only place to get these or are there any other alternatives?

i run a scoobyecu(15.5psi), decat exhaust, panel filter, uprated fuel pump and reg.

thanks for any help..

I had my coil packs replaced on my MY93 WRX, it would run fine one day then all of a sudden it would be like a tractor spluttering away, I had all 4 changed at once at Prosport and it's run fine ever since

Remove the coilpacks, pull back the rubber sheath on the end of each coilpack and check to see if there are any hair-line cracks/fractures in the ceramic on the ends - If there are any they are likely to be causing a degradation of spark under boost conditions. Also with the coilpacks out check the plugs ;) What gap you running?

Cheers

gaps on plugs are 0.8

will check coil packs tomorrow before i order new ones.

what should the gap on the plugs be or are they right?

cheers

They are normally recommended to be 0.7mm on PFR7's ;)

Cheers
