Decating MY03 STI

If I was to remove the downpipe cat and centre cat will my STI run ok or will it need remapping???

remap would be v advisable otherwise you could have det & other problems. Mind you, saying that, I ran my old P1 for 2 years & 45k miles on full decat with no remap. (did use super & octane booster thou)

I would not not consider doing it unless I was prepared to get a remap.

I was going to do this to my 02 STi and was advised by Pat that mapping should be done at the same time to keep things safe.

Best to do it all at once IMO.

Remember you will also need an uprated fuel pump for a remap, I put a regulator on aswell.

Bob checked my fuel pressure when he mapped my 2003STI

He said an uprated fuel pump was not needed...so it's mapped on the standard one.

So it not all gloom and doom (money wise that is)

Dont bother unless you fit an uprated fuel pump and get your car re-mapped.

For the extra 100-120ish quid I'd rather have an uprated one myself, atleast then you know it can handle it 100% ;)

I presume a remap isnt required for a free flow backbox on it's own?

Regards,
Shaun.

No, backbox should fine without a remap.

In fact you could do backbox and centre section without a problem.

cheers guys i`ve already got an afterburner backbox. Might give it a miss until the warrenty has expired!!!! Then TSL 333 or something!!
