Any drummers out there?
Seen a few bands recently where the drummer is enclosed by a perspex enclosure. Why is this?

Because they smell :D:D.. No the reason is noise reduction. when playing live the drum kit is usually the loudest thing on stage, which can make it hard for the Foh sound engineer to get a good sound without pushing up the volume to match. To get the best sound live it would be good to have all the amps drums etc in a closed box to stop the sound coming off the stage and just use the PA output, But we cant.. So any reduction of stage sound will help improve the sound out the front..
Hope this helps.. Mark.. |
god knows
had the misfortune to have a dj booth made of perspex recently. Was like a green house with condensation dripping from the roof- and it was very very hot. never drummed in one, but i imagine you would have the same problems with the addition of some new ones Wouldnt be very good acoustically either...although it would give a certain degree of isolation from the rest of the noise- which is a possible reason Its probably just for show or to look cool |
