Adjusting headlight beam
I've just replaced my headlamp bulbs and although the new bulbs are a lot brighter they seem to be shining a lot lower.
How do I go about adjusting the height my lights are shining at? Are there some screws somewhere to move the beam? |
Sorry.. forgot to say I have a `97 Sti with standard headlights

You shouldn't need to adjust them, I think it's quite easy to do the bulbs and not get them located quite right, take em out again and refit!

Tried refitting them but no difference. Must be just the type of bulbs I bought.

Similar problem on MY03, after changing, one is shining high the other low. Didnt happen on the previous set i swapped. Think its likely to be the bulbs but not found the answer yet.

Propably dislodeged the reflector
It's really easy to pop the reflectors out of their mountings on a classic if you push too hard when you refit the bulbs and connectors. I did this on both my headlamps first time I swapped bulbs. I thought the headlamp adjuster had broken becuase it stopped moving the lamps, but it was because they weren't correctly positioned.
Take the bulb out, hook your finger thorugh the reflector hole and pull the reflector steadily towards the engine bay .It should pop back onto the mountings if it's been dislodged. Mike |
Can anyone tell me what the circled parts of the next 2 pictures are for?
Does this adjust the beam? http://davidcrosby.fotopic.net/p10119195.html http://davidcrosby.fotopic.net/p10119196.html |
Looks like it: what model/MY is that on?
Simple way to test it, shine lights on wall, mark position of beam, adjust, see what it does, put it back where it was. Nothing ventured,........... and all that! Alcazar |
Your local tyre place should do this to MOT standards for a fiver. Seems a bit mean to be trying to save that little.
