PS2 Steering Wheels
 

I want to get a FF wheel for my PS2 to play GT3/4 and WRC04, but can't decide wether to get the Logitech Driving Force Pro (£99) or the Logitech Driving Force (£59) does anyone havew either of these wheels? is the Pro worth the extra £££.

I've tried the cheaper model with the original WRC, it was an experience to put me off them for life.

There is an official GT3 FF wheel - might be worth a search on ebay.

Unless you have the right playing area to set-up the wheel and pedal box in a good comfy position and not bolted to the coffee table theres no point in getting one.

I bought the GT-3 bundle pack of the game with wheel and pedal box. I found it fun to begin with but found I got better times using the Dualshock 2. I've probably used it about 4 times and it now collects dust in the spare room in its box.

FYI The Pro wheel is the only one with the 900 degree rotation feature which is used in GT4 (if it ever comes out :()

But is it worth spending £70-90 on a wheel thats not much better than the DS2?

I've had both (and wheels from other manufacturers before that)

Firstly, for any wheel, you need a setup for it - I recommend the "uddevalla" folding TVdinner table from Ikea - £6, and a chair.. I assume you have a chair :D

The first wheel (driving force) *is* a step above most wheels, the feedback is nice, is easy to find a sweet spot in drifting \ opposite lock.. only real "fault" is that the pedals have a habit of slipping away from you on some surfaces. It was £90 was it came out, at that price it's a bargain and you won't be disappointed...

...unless you try the pro.. it finally makes the leap from "toy" to "simulator", and makes most arcade cabinets feel weak in feedback! It's a heavy beggar, with very strong (adjustable) feedback, but feels "right" and the brake pedal is firmer than the throttle.. also the pedal base has "spikes" to grip into carpet... it also features a sequential shift which some prefer to the paddles. (it still has paddles as well)

It depends how much you are into your driving games... if you like the occasional blast of burnout, go for the DF, if you are known to spend hours in GT or TOCA, go for the Pro.
