Upgrading a CPU on a Laptop

Got a Dell Inspiron 8200 with a P4-M 1.8GHz CPU in my lappy and been wondering about the possibilities of upgrading it.

Dell's website is next to no use - anyone know if it's possible?

Fancy upping the Graphics card too which might be a bit easier, are there any websites that specialise in laptop parts?

It might be possible to drop in a faster P4-M but it's not something you find many people selling as a stand-alone CPU.

There's a move in the graphics arena at present to move graphics chipsets for laptops to replacable modules but at present most are usually board mounted.

Hello

Being the curious type, I have dismantled a few of the laptops my company kindly gives me and they have all had the cpu surface mounted on the motherboard (along with all the other components come to think about it).

So whilst I guess it is possible, you would have to desolder and then mount another chip. Not something that I would wish to do.

Steve.
