Advice when buying 22B

Having now sold my 2002 STi7 with PPP I am thinking about buying a 22B, but I have heard that it might not make a good every day car and that the engine needs a re-build every 12k or so.

If this is the case its a great shame as this model really looks the part.

So your best advice please from those that know, should I look for someting a little more mainstream like another Sti.

Kind regards

My engine blew up at 16k miles, but diagnosed as having been built wrong in the first instance, and hasn't missed a beat in the next 24k miles..many 22B's have had the engine let go at least once..but they seem to have been driven fairly enthusiasticaly.
Bodywork is incredibly expensive, wheels cost £900/corner plus rubber. It's more tail-happy than most scoobs. The gearing is type-r short, noisy on motorways. The ride is harsh. Soundproofing isn't near the newage cars so it is loud inside. Things rattle. The plastic scratches easily. Needs SUL + octane booster, or a remap. The titanium badges on the side are popular with thieves. If you have an accident it can take 'some time' to gather parts and get it back on the road.
They are 6 years old and still cost over £20k, whereas an STI5 type R is around half that. The standard Excedy clutch is a bitch. Standard brakes are as weak as all the classics. Quickrack steering is apparently twitchy and dangerous at motorway speeds.
Horrible car. Never selling mine :D
