He must be pretty gutted though, driving around in a what was once the best JDM Impreza and now you get the same suspension setup on a MY05 UK STi plus you get electric windows.

LOL
Only messing with you Tony :D

corradoboy 21 November 2004 09:52 PM

Don't set him off

;)

AndyC_772 21 November 2004 09:57 PM

Tony has a Spec C? Never! :D

p1doc 21 November 2004 10:00 PM

i think it is an 03/04 model ie last years model the spec c suspension is so common, you need the 05 ra to be "in"

Brun 21 November 2004 10:07 PM

So do you reckon that the new STi (UK spec) with DCCD-A + PPP is of the same power & handling of the MY03/4 Spec C ?

Yeah if you rip the carpets out, Lighten the panels, glassect..
Also rip soundproofing out , Mess with the ecu,
And thats just for starters....
Dont think you will ever make a uk car feel like a Spec C or JDM car come to think of it.

But i am a mere female ...so dont take my word for it :)

TonyBurns 22 November 2004 10:04 AM

Danny,
The UK STi's still dont have ALL of the suspension changes the Spec C has ;) and they miss out on the quick rack steering also, but it should handle alot better and much more like the Spec C does :D but it would need a good 340bhp and 370lbs of torque to be in the same category due to the weight differences ;)
And i feel alot of people will be getting rid of the Bridgestone RE070's as first impressions are they are quite deadly in the wet (which is good for me as ill buy them cheap ;)) but they actually do make the car.

Tony:D

TonyBurns 22 November 2004 10:05 AM

Sam,
I'll have to get Banzai and have a peek to see who's Spec C it is ;)
Hows your car running? :D

Tyres yes...Good point mine has the Toyo's on,
Are they any good ??? Thought it would have the 070's on but because it was secondhand, Didnt check !!!!!

Not done much in the way of cornering as its been wet up here and i wrote the van off in the wet so.....

Just wondering if these tyres will hold me if i do :norty: Proxy's i think ?!

Running like a dream, Did expect a little more cabin noise !!
And even after having a couple of JDM STI'S , find the torque quite unreal.
I still cant get over how light it feels.

Im even liking the colour lots , the black interior is a nice change from the blue/black,
And the watertank in the boot even looks pretty, Lol
Even drove round with the catflap up, freezing my **** off, Like a chav !!! :eek2:

May pass you one day on my travels up North :)

Sorry my point was that most people would want all the luxurys that the Spec C hasn't got but still want a car that handled like a Spec C for A > B driving.
I for one hate track days and would never do them again so the lightness of a car isn't really a selling point for me.

Sounds like Subaru have finally got it right for the UK market.

TonyBurns 22 November 2004 10:30 AM

The torque is very good, especially down low (i drive around in 5th in 30 zones, not a problem :D)
For the 12ltr water tank though, do you have a dehumidifier?
Use this water in that 12ltr tank, the chlorine reacts to the aluminium on the intercooler (white deposites) so deionised water is the best as it doesnt do it ;) (i just leave the IC waterspray on auto anyway ;))
Warning about the flap though, no more than 50mph when driving with it open, you need to try to translate the japanese on the flap but it does state 80kmh ;)
As for passing me up here in the north ;)
I do quite a bit of driving, i may pass you down south but maybe not in the scoob :(

Tony:D

TonyBurns 22 November 2004 10:33 AM

Sam,
The Toyo's are good, but if you havnt had the RE070's on, see if you can get a set of spare wheels with these fitted, they are horrible to start with, but mine now are no worse than my old SO2PP's, though wet handling isnt quite as good, it is more progressive in the feedback (dry weather handling is just amazing though :D)

Never done a track day yet !!!!
Although if Redkop has her way i soon will, Wait while the Skyline gets here for that tho :norty:
I just wanted the fastest standard car there was, and thought this was the one, Do love the type R, so i wanted something with that pull of the mark, but with all the mod cons of the new car.

Subaru for me have the market sussed.

You would need a ferrari to beat some of the stuff they produce , And they dont have the supercar price tag.

But I thought that the Spec C had no "mod cons" ?

Mine does have the electrics/aircon/dccd ect

But what i really meant by mod cons were the ;

Newer engine, the ball bearing turbo,
The newer interior,

Cant think of anything i miss TBH apart from the rear wiper

I probably pass you twice a week then ;)

john coffey 22 November 2004 05:29 PM

Get your coat Tony, you've pulled.

TonyBurns 22 November 2004 06:22 PM

LOL! ;)

Us Spec C owners have to stick together though :D
We nearly have enough in a 50mile radius for a meet :D

Tony:D

sti8sam1 23 November 2004 08:12 AM

Dont forget to let me know when it is then :)

TonyBurns 28 November 2004 10:54 AM

Sam,
Bought Banzai and saw that Spec C..... YUK!
Black wheels do NOT suit a white car (if there were a smiley that had fingers down its throat it would be here ;))
Think its also a bit over done, but i prefer to be descreet rather than outstandish :)

Tony:D

DPat 28 November 2004 12:13 PM
