So, have you all watched it? Me and the missus watched it as we both like the movies and books and were seriously dissapointed with Prizoner of Azkaban. Before even reading the back of the DVD case I said it must have been directed by someone different than the other two. Upon looking I was correct.

It didnt help that Dumbledore is compeltey different although I kind of understand due to John Hurt not being with us anymore :( But the worst thing is the layout of Hogwarts is completly different, its now on top of a mountain!!! Since when did they have to walk down the side of a mountain to get to Hagrids hut when in the last two movies they just walked across a bit of (flat) grass!?!

It just doenst make sense to me and we were both really dissapointed byt the movie. It left out huge chunks of the book to.

They should have used Ian Mckellan to replace John Hurt as Dumbledoor IMO. Ok so he was Gandalf in LOTR but those movies are done now so surely he had no ties apart from possible filming clashes at the time???

HP 1 and 2 had a natural flow to them and we enjoyed them as much as the other one but 3 is no way near as good as the others IMO. What do you guys'n'gals think?

John Hurt??? Not with us any more???

Sorry, I'm sure I heard he had died. My mistake then.

Even more confused as to why they got a different actor to play Dumbledore then???

Ah! - with you now. You're thinking of Ricahrd Harris for it was he who played Dumbledore and he died in 2002. Sorry I haven't really taken any notice of the films so I took a look at IMDB - you had me worried there for a minute :D

Yep, your absolutely right tiggers, in my defence..........it is Monday after all ;)

Got my actors a bit mixed up, sorry for the confusion.

Have it downstairs, but haven't had time to watch it yet. Gutted if its crap, as No 3 was the best book. :(

I'm afraid to say that its nothing like 1 and 2. IIRC the same Director directed the first two but the third is directed by some foreign dude.

prodriva 22 November 2004 11:53 AM

The directors name is Alfonso Cuarón

Watched it over the weekend, and its not good.
Shame really cos the first one was magic. And the second one too !

Will be getting it on DVD when it's out here.

Saw Azkaban at the flicks, after reading the book, not overly impressed, it was darker than the other books, and I can see Mr Oldman as Sirrius (why bother spelling correctly, the pedants will correct it for me ;)). Some plot points were missed out though, and rather major ones, for example, why the patronus was a stag, and also, who made the maruaders map. hmm.

I'm interested to see how the next couple of films go, the books are certainly a very good read.
