Micro roadpilot
 

Anyone got a Geodsey micro roadpilot, if so what do you think? any good or not worth thinking about. post your views and any photos to see what they look like fitted.

I have one, bought from Pele on here on a Group Buy. It does what it says on the tin, took a while to find the satellites at first but has been very reliable since and is very unobtrusive (I have it mounted at the base of the drivers side pillar). Always seems to be online, and hasn't failed to find a fixed camera yet. The database downloads are very easy, just plug it into its cradle on the PC and it downloads straight away.

Not sure I can comment on the value for money, I paid about £290 a year ago for what is basically a GPS receiver. I don't know how it compares feature/price-wise with what's available now but it does its job very well.

Get yourself a PDA Aldi just did a bundle to £250 with build in GSP Receiver and Navigon 4.2 and i have uploaded the speed cams to, much more use for the same or similar outlay,

I've got a Micro Road Pilot, excellent bit of kit - easy to use, uncomplicated display and relatively discrete...I used to have a Valentine 1, but the MRP is generally a better bit of kit. I had mine mounted on the dash next to the SECS monitor pod, but haven't yet installed it in the new car - was also thinking of the base of the A pillar

Definatley recommend it - the only down side is the LaserPilot unit that plugs into it seems to be very sensitive and gives a lot of false alerts - even police/emergency vehicle strobe lights will set it off, as well as some bridge mounted traffic monitoring equipment - never had a false laser alert on the V1.

did you have any trouble hiding the wires in or under the dash.

Sorry, haven't been able to get piccies yet.

With the unit at the base of the A pillar I was able to hide the wires. The power lead goes down and behind the dash, and is hard-wired into the back of the cigarette lighter, and the GPS unit is in the middle near the windscreen, just to the left of the front windscreen heater outlet (MY97 UK wagon). The GPS lead is tucked down between the windscreen and the dash, and isn't visible. Does that make sense? (I know, piccies would help :) ...)

dave - sorry m8, only just returned to this thread after it was moved.

No problem hiding the wires - everything hides in the pod mount that houses the SECS monitor, the GPS reciever sits in front of the pod against the base of the windscreen and the whole lot hardwired into the ciggy lighter. The laser sensor was mounted out of sight behind the front grill - cable running through a grommet in the bulkhead and around the engine bay.

I'll probably put the same install in the new car - it worked well before.
