exhaust too loud.....

hi

i currently have a magnex downpipe, magnex center and a Tanabe backbox,

its just too loud for me...... if i get a res-center pipe, how much will this reduce??

also i am planning to get some un-equal headers, will this increase the sound??
i love the flat 4 rumble but not too loud and i dont want to loose the preformance

any solution??

thanks

headers like the Gruppe-s, HKS or copies (4-1, not quite equal length) will quieten down the throbbing nicely without losing the burble, makes for much nicer motorway cruising.

Magnex backbox might be a nice addition to cut the noise down further.

so you are saying by adding 4-1 headers will actually decrease the noise but increase preformance?? i thought by adding 4-1 will make the car louder???

it does make it quieter.. think the more equal, yet still unequal, cancels out the resonance I suppose..

When I looked into getting a replacement centre section, I was advised that the resonated centre sections are much quieter in-car than the straight thoughs which can tend to throb or drone when cruising on the m'way etc.

Some have wrapped their downpipes and/or centre sections with exhaust wrap with varying degrees or success.

Can't say exactly how much the noise will reduce, should reduce in-car noise though.

the scooby burble is due to the unequal header length, you hear the cylinder 'bangs' in a 1,3 - 2,4 sequence, rather than a 1-3-2-4 sequence. This makes for a noticable increase in noise, which the equal, or near equal headers help reduce.
