Quick MPG question

Had my first scooby just over a week now, its a MY02WRX with WR Sport rear silencer.

I dont know much about the fuel consumption with these cars, although they do like to guzzle the fuel.

Put £30 worth of SUL in and got about 150 miles, is this good, average or crap fuel consumpton.

It doesnt bother me either way, would just like to know what everyone averages.

Thanks
Marc

About right. I get around 210-220 miles with £40 in my sti 4.

messiah 15 November 2004 10:19 AM

Sounds about right - although there seems to be quite a lot of variance of what everyone gets - some reckon they average about 170 to a tank, others say they usually get around 300.

Depends on how you drive really...

190 / 200 per tank on 03 STi Prodrive...

flat4 15 November 2004 10:21 AM

got 50 miles out of half a tank yesterday, so you're not doing too badly ;):D

STILee 15 November 2004 10:48 AM

WR1 230

Why don't you just work out an accurate MPG? 'per tank' is so variable. I get 25 - 27 ave on my 01 WRX, best 29 on a run.

Not on a fill to fill average - otherwise you will need to drain your tank and run it to empty......

Gutmann pug 15 November 2004 11:54 AM

160 miles to the tank in mine

Jamesemt 15 November 2004 12:00 PM

03 WRX standard:- 23-26 mpg over last 4k miles...

Erm... no you don't...

- fill tank to brim
- drive as far as you like
- refill tank to brim
- fuel consumption = amount of fuel required to refill tank / distance travelled.

errrrm, thats precisely what I tried to say!! - perhaps ambiguosly written Ma Lord!

automodellistagt 15 November 2004 12:28 PM

17-18 normal 23 on motorways, 15 when i drive with spirit, 04 sti ppp

might as well drive with spirit all the time then

When you condider that a Ferrari 360 is supposed to average 12mpg, our Subarus' don't sound to bad, especially when they keep up with one!

Trumble 15 November 2004 02:21 PM

I have MY02 WRX with WRSport BB - I get 25-26 to gal.

Yours sounds about right.

Absolutly, brim to brim fill each time is how I calculate mine, super accurate every time!!

UKScoobGS 15 November 2004 02:38 PM

29mpg

I get 29mpg with 300miles to £40 quid of SUL.
I drive a 04 wrx with ninja back box and sti panel filter, also most of the driving is on the motor way.

If i fill her up with £40 of optimax im lucky if i get 200 miles, but she does feel faster so maybe i boot her a little more.

Cheers

Gordon.

03 WRX - Ninja Backbox - Green Cotton filter

£20 of SUL usually takes me 110-120 miles which on current fuel pricing returns between 22-24mpg. This is regular stop-start commutes with a 3mile motorway stretch inbetween.

I've noticed short journeys to local Tesco store during lunch periods kills economy overall for the week by about 2-3mpg.

However during Summer using aircon only returns 18mpg for obvious reasons.

Hope this helps

Frank

I would say my standard (at the moment :) ) 97 UK Turbo is exactly the same using Optimax

>300 miles per tank or up to 30mpg (I once got 31mpg) - when doing mainly motorway work etc. As I do a lot of longish journeys, which are interspersed motorway and enthusiastic A / B roads, average perhaps 270 per tank or 25mpg. I have done short trips that I am sure are around 10mpg (110 miles / tank), but that involves the sort of driving that is not encouraged on UK roads.

02WRX with numerous mods (exhaust, ecutek etc). I believe the mods on my car make it more economical on the cruise than as standard. Of couse, when I boot it, the extra 70bhp does involve burning more fuel! ;)

LOL. If you honestly believe that, I'll issue a challenge for you. 02WRX with backbox (car in question) versus ferrari 360, lets say standing start km (as off the line favours the scoob). Loser pays for the cars. ;)

Fun is not always in a straight line my friend.

Of course, 360s are renowned for not handling . . . Mid-engine, rear-drive, instant throttle response etc, all from a company with no idea what a sports car is about - recipe for disaster, really ;) :p
