Fitting a lip Spoiler
My car is going into the bodyshop tomorrow to get a car park ding sorted (courtesy of 3rd party insurer) and I have just got hold of a front lip spoiler that I am going to ask them to paint up at the same time.
The spoiler is a perfect fit, but not having fitted one before, didn't know whether it's usual to blend the join with something like filler? Is it worth me asking the bodyshop to fit it too, and if so, how much would they be reasonable to ask for this - I figure the paint is free, it'll only take a few minutes to spray it, so it's the fitting (and blending?) that will cost me. Any advice appreciated. |
you could get the splitter fitted flush with filler ......but my advice is dont .......the very 1st time you catch this on a raised kirb or anything it will split the filler & the paint , & it will look a right mess ..
you can be as carefull as you can but i gaurantee you will catch it sometime . |
That's a good point. To be honest it's a fairly goo fit already, so colour-coded it will probably look fairly decent.

Here's what it looks like just pushed on - it will obviously be flusher once screwed in, and hopefully once painted the joins won't be so noticeable:

i`ve fitted a few of that exact spoiler .....they do fit very well .......there more or less stuck on bar a few self tappers ...they should do this anyway but ask them to heat your existing bumper with a heat gun(especially around the spot lights & scoopes) b4 they finally stick it on ......thats where they usually come adrift....it will stay on without lifting for ages then ........

I take it you work in a bodyshop?
How long would you say it would take spraying it (considering the will have the paint etc there whilst doing my door), and fitting it? Thanks :) |
For the best look get the front lip spoiler blended in, it isn't cheap but the final look is a million time better, i had it done on my first scoob and people kept asking where they could get it done, sorry have no pictures as that was two scoobys ago.
