240mm Clutch Upgrade

Does anyone know whether a 240mm diameter clutch plate & cover will
fit inside a 1996 gear box casing & will it alter the engine performance
due to runing a larger flywheel.

Many thanks

Ian.

P.S. Its going onto a 1999 Uk spec motor.

I'm sure John Banks or Dave Wallis have done this in the past(?)
From my memory, the assembly can catch the bell housing internal ribs somewhere. Easy to find though, just place the flywheel and cover onto the box's input shaft and turn to see if it catches.
The extra rotating mass will dull the engine off, so get the 240 skimmed (by someone who knows the limits) to 8 KG prior to fitting or a better way, an aftermarket f/wheel.
With an AP organic this would be a good mod that few do except the above experts.
Let us know how you get on!

Nope, definitely won't fit into the 5 speed box, but it's ohh... so...close.

Wouldn't grind away any strengthening ribs to make fit, too many other options out there for the 5 speed.

Fair comments, depends how determined you are!
Banks/Wallis are people who really have done it all, and there are several more like them who pop-up every now and then. You can learn stacks off their replys/comments.
Good luck whichever direction you take.
