I like how he also adds "To be sure of the full performance gains offered by this device I recommend also fitting a free flowing air filter (such as those made by Pipercross and K&N) at the same time."

fpsml :D:D:D:D

hahaha  Nice one :D

RichardPON 13 November 2004 11:12 AM

Seen these before.

Totally genuine (as far as they're concerned).

Connects to the coolant temp sensor, and fools the ECU into changing the map re: coolant temp......

Forget ported heads, cams, carbs - this is where it's at for old skool tuning ;)

T5NYW 13 November 2004 11:18 AM

I saw something shiney under my dash after PPP was fitted to my Sti  perhaps Prodrive charge extra to fit the knob on the dash :D LOL recipe for disaster me thinks.

Tony

Off to Tandy's to buy loads of 10kohm resisters and old cooker nobs and Ebay account. MY05StiPPP anyone ;)

fergie_uk 13 November 2004 12:05 PM

If this is indeed fooling the ECU into adding more fuel then your engine will be running rich am i right?, so im guessing coupled with a boot controller to add more boost then perhaps it may work?

ALi-B 13 November 2004 12:06 PM

PSML

Did it ever occur to them that running rich doesn't give you more power, if you aint got enough air in the cylinders then it ain't going to burn, and just go though your exhaust heat up your catalyst and send your HC and CO emissions through the roof.

Perhaps on a Mundano or shopping trolley it may work due to the lean burn engine characteristics. Or maybe not - the oxygen sensor on the closed loop control will try and compensate and just lean it back out again, and probably flash up a fault code in the process.

The average scoob runs pretty rich as it is on full boost. Although, in addition to a AFR metre it maybe handy if you have a dodgy MAF sensor leaning things out, or you need some form of manual DET control ;) So, save your pistons it will, more BHP, not much, if any a loss in BHP is possible on a scoob!

As a note...for "real" enrichment connect it to the CTS (coolant) sensor instead of the ATS and get things really cooking !

btt for more on this

stevey 14 November 2004 09:52 AM

maybe we could do a group buy lol

TonyBurns 14 November 2004 10:14 AM

This ingenious system works by fooling your cars electronic control unit (ECU) into thinking the incoming air is colder than it really is - by up to 40 degrees! This makes the ECU supply more fuel to the cylinders which gives you much more power!
I wonder if they cover the cost of a new engine in that
'Guarenteed to work for the first 100 miles before a new engine is required'

lol! no doubt some muppet has bought one

How much ? :Suspiciou :Suspiciou

Jerome 14 November 2004 01:08 PM

I wonder if this is a typo and should read "doesn't"... :D

"It does require messing about with the ECU or any of its wiring."

MarkTurbo 14 November 2004 05:08 PM
