feck me old boots they are quick.

Bought one last weekend. 2.6cc proper engine, off roader type thing which does 45-50mph.

Needed a bit of tinkering to get it going then it had to be ran in at 1/4 throttle for 3 or 4 tanks of fuel. Even on 1/4 throttle the thing accelerates like a rocket. I dont think anything will catch it in the wet twisties :D :D

Managed to break it after 20 minutes but that was slight driver error but mostly the fualt of a wall. Should be fixed and running on full throttle this weekend .......cant wait.

Right just gotta find a big field with horses or cows in it and I can go play :D

We have class for truck racing at our local club and its always good to watch - but bit dangerous to marshall!!!

ATX or some such thing. Cant remember the actual name. Its bloody good fun whatever it is. I doubt it will last more than a couple of weeks to be fair. Im prone to breaking things.

Where do you get these from - sounds like a perfect xmas present for my other half.

I bought mine from a local hobby store. You can get them from places like gadget shop I think also but your better off getting it from a model shop etc as they can fix it when you break it.
Hopefully mine will be back tonight then its play time this weekend.

Be careful when buying an RC car especially nitro as they are easily broken and if you can't get the parts then your stuffed.

Have a look here www.modelsport.co.uk they've got a good selection and you can make sure you have everything you need - nothing worse than Christmas day and realising your missing the fuel etc...!! Something like a HPI nitro Rush RTR (Ready To Run) would be OK and parts shouldn't be a problem. Some shops will sell you the car then when you need parts they are less than useless.

It has a decent radio controller with it dont like those american style ones with the little steering wheel on tit.

I would agree thats its important to buy it from somewhere local preferably who dies spares and repairs also.

Mine needed a new servo after a little whack after 20 mins ...... Not bad at £9 though.

Mine cost £280 all in, other than fuel which cost £12 for half a gallon but should last a fair while.

I had one but found it was a fooking pain in the a$$ breaking all the time, spent most of the time trying to get the damn thing to run properly. The fuel/air mix was impossible to adjust and the damn glow plugs kept running out, when it did work I would start the engine then the damn thing would stall before I could put the scoob rally cover on.

Maybe I had a bad experience.

I agree with edscott. Have recently bought 2, and luckily there is a good hobby shop close by that has proved to be life saving (so to speak !!) I would buy another, but would only buy new now and pay the extra by getting from a shop, not over the net where you can't see what you're getting. This is just my advice, I'm not saying that you won't get a genuine bargain off the net, but we got kinda stitched up and wish we'd gone the normal route now.

Unless your 100% sure what your doing fiddling with the mixture will probably result in it not running properly again.

Also don't forget the cheap nitro cars are built with cheap plastic which means broken wishbones aplenty. I know thier not as fun and only last about 10 minutes but a good electric buggy is a great way to start.

Our club has more Hyper 7s than anything else but these things are fast and heavy so be careful as they can do quite nasty damage to legs etc.. if you join the BRCA you are covered if not you will be liable if you break someones ankle. Failing that just find a big space with no people and no dogs!

Dumb question - but how long do these run on their fuel (1 fill-up)? And what other consumables do they require during ownership?

Fuel - you thought Optimax was expensive! :eek:

Can last upto aobut 10 mins depending on settings and size of tank.

Glowplugs - shouldn't die to quicky but handy to keep a couple.

AirFilter - keep it clean and well oiled and shes away.

If you look at the link above it gives you the option to purchase things not included in the kit but are a must. Batteries must be in good shape for radio gear becuase if you loose contact with the car your in trouble. It is possible to purchase a failsafe and a good idea to put the neck of an elastic band around the throttle linkage so its forced into neutral if you loose contact.

About 10 mins i should think but it only takes about 30 seconds to re-fill it again. Consumables im just learning about. Just spoke to my mate who took mine in for repairs and its only a 3WD at the moment ..:D

Personnally prefer my computerised steering wheel type controller ;)
Unless you know what you are doing buy locally, at least then you can take it in to them and say " I've broke this bit " again " "
Unfortunatley most of the package deal servos are a bit weak in the gear department, for slightly more money you should be able to pick up a metal geared one.

Oh dear too much talk of RC on here the now I can feel mine getting brought out of the cupboard and dusted down :rolleyes: :D
