i went to the shootout at alconbry runway on thursday and raced `Steff the Cossie Killer` in my RS Turbo.......
I am running around 300bhp (ish) and beat most things on the road in a straight line.......
we started from the 1.5 mile mark with Dick Dare as the starter,
Steff got off the line so quickly i could not believe it, before i gained traction steff was 60 meters in front of me......
it is only the second time i have been on a track for racing and steff trully opened my eyes to the power of the scoob.....

Cheers Trubador.
You are too kind. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

It is also worth mentioning that we also had another 'race', this time from a rolling 40mph start. The cars were level up to 90mph at which point the RST pulled away a car length up to 120mph.
I didn't know at the time he had 300bhp though!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif
I came away with a great respect for what other enthusuasts can do with their cars, as I know how hard Trub' has worked on his little beast.
I think I'll stick to 'Cossie Killing' though. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

TRUB
Every body knows when you start to run more
than 200bhp through the front wheels of an
RS Turbo you can`t get traction. On the day
you would of been better of running a Tansit
Van. I`m not knocking the turbo in any way.
I bet if you were only running 200bhp on the
day you wouldn`t have give this guy 60m head
start.

steff........
you too kind sir http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
as i said before though, the way you left me behind from standing start was out of this world and i have never been left like that before by anything.......
i was pleased in winning the rolling start, and to my little beasts credit, she does pull very well from 60mph - 140mph and i can put my hand on my heart and swear to whooping porsche 911, a couple of scooby`s, Volvo T5, audi quatro, lancia intergrale and a few others etc etc.......
either way, it does not make a difference to the way steff whooped me from standing start, if i had put my car into reverse he could not have won by more http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Stef,

Im showing my ignorance here mate....but whats your spec again??

Cheers

Richie.

UK MY98.
Full Scorpion system and K&N 57i induction kit.
That's it!
People have often put the power of my car down to the fact the engine was nice and loose, but the car has had a new short block fitted recently so the engine is still pretty tight. I honestly believe it is my exhaust/filter combination, as she still feels just as quick now.
I have got various power figures before the rebuild, the most accurate I believe being 236bhp. I will get a comparitive figure very soon, in order to test my theory. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Console yourself by calculating the cost of a new Clutch / Gearbox / Diff(s) / Viscous coupling (delete as appropriate) if Stef launches too hard next time http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
