NOT HAPPY............
 

..........I've had my eye on a 1987 Porsche Carrera Sport, 3.2L coupe at the garage that I bought my turbo wagon from 20 months ago.

I went along, had a passenger ride, sorted out cheaper insurance than the scoob and had an online part loan initally approved for right money.

Vaccumed the scoob, checked all fluids, washed and waxed her and was looking and driving superb ( except for the peeling skirts ), took her along for a partex price and they offered me...................3k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scoob has done 108k, full history ( main dealer until i found a small local specialist) factory a/c, recaro seats ( option in 96 , uk model ) oil change every 3/4k, tracker, Toad cat1, ashtray never used, Kenwood 6cd changer and carbon effect dash kit and momo carbon knob.

I bought the scoob completely standard in March 2003 for 6.7k and since then added a scoobyecu, full decat, front strutbrace, set of 17" TSW reflex alloys in anthracite, boost gauge pillar mounted. Now I know that I can discount mods and did say that I would partex the scoob as I bought it as I've kept all the original bits, but 3 grand is a pisstake.

Since I started this thread, I've had a phonecall and apparently the garage owner whom I bought the car off, now semi-retired has instructed them to offer me 4k as they know the scoob and myself.

I still think that 4k is too cheap and could get more privately aswell as all the hassle.

Have scoob prices really hit an all time low or what..........!!?

Rant over, but still fancy the Porsche.

It's only money mate!! I've lost thousands over the years swapping cars. But that's the way of the world, you either keep the car until it's worth scrap! or you get shut. I'll tell you what though, if you get the porker when you come to sell it you'll have to go through it all again!

Bloody scarey this is!! I compared my 99 classic to an evo of the same age and considering the new list prices werent poles apart the Evo is now worth twice as much as the scoob :(...

It's the flood of import's that's beat the sh*t out of price's. So many garage's have got on the band wagon selling import scoob's it has knock on effect on uk price's.There must be 10 scoob's for every evo for sale, just look around at most garage's you often see wrx import's on the forecourt but hardly see a evo! that's why the evo still hold's it price.I got caught some 7 year's ago with selling my shogun i paid a small fortune for it then the flood gate's opened and all the pajero's got washed up on our shore's,sudenly the value of mine nosedived because people had much more cheaper choice.Yeah you guessed it i was mighty p***ed off to!.

still gotta admit though the car is 8 years old with over 100k miles on it, service history or not Id say your only looking between 4-5k MAX!!!!! Cant expect to get a good price from a garage, there in it too make money. :rolleyes: be honest with yourself, scoobs might be a desirable car but they aint an expensive car. (only to run mind)

Ask yourself a simple question: do you really, really want the porker?

If you can answer "yes", then take the hit, and get it. Life's too short to mess about over a few hundred quid!

You could always try selling the scoob privately for half way between what you want and what they are offering? At that sort of money it'll attract boy racers.......................:D

Yes mate, it has the g50 box and runs sweet as a nut, well, as a passenger it did anyway.

Gonna think about it overnight and go back tomorrow.

One thing is that it goes back to standard and the decat, d/valve and scoobyecu go on sale..............;)

This may not cheer you up Skoosh but if you want to sell the wheels, and I mean this weekend, tell me a price and we can meet up at Ians garage. I will be getting some anthracite wheels come hell or high water this weekend.

Go for it. I had a chance at a car I've always wanted, to run alongside the scoob, about 12 months ago, and I had to pass on it, (wifey said so:D).

I don't think I'll EVER get over it:cry:

Trem, sorry mate, woke up this morning and decided against the Porsche in the end, it doesn't make sense really as I can't see the porsche being any cheaper to run day to day.

So, with reference the wheels, what's your' plan and what are you running on now, the swap could possibly be an option (? with a little cash) depending on what you got.;)

Oh if you thought it may be cheaper....I would have told you that last night!

You wont lose any money on it, and it will be cheap to insure, but I would imagine it would cost £2k per year to run if you are using it daily.

Well, I am just waiting on a guy in Gloucester to send me some pics of his 17 inch anthracite wheels. I asked him first but if it goes tits up I will PM you later tonight Skoosh. I have standard, nasty wheels at the minute :(

Yeah I did mean Ian in Market Drayton. I have seen alot of him recently, knackered gearbox, got replacement, replacement was knackered, gearbox out again then gearbox back in again. Finally got it sorted on Thursday.

You recommending Ian was quite possibly the best thing to come out of me using the internet ever! The nicest, most honest and competent mechanic I have ever come across. I live in Newcastle and I still make the journey to Ian solely because he is the only mechanic I trust now.

I owe you big time in all honesty.

Trem, with reference to Ian, I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him mate, he's a top bloke and very competent and thorough mechanic and has great taste in calenders too ( hollyoaks babes ;) ).

Where are you in Newcastle, you may have sen my white wagon on Basford Park Road with the 17" TSW reflex alloys, custom painted in anthracite(?).

you should never compare a uk classic scoob with a evo

compare a sti scoob with a evo yea, but dont bother comparing a uk classic to a evo, there so far apart IMO your barking up the wrong tree

Skoosh forget the porsche mate, just got rid of mine c reg 3.2 carrera. stick with a scoob anytime for thrills and comfort, the porker is old hat when it comes to comfort, I did it for a month and lucky for me sold the car , for the same price I paid.
