Sevicing in Yorkshire...

The Scoob's due for its 10,000 service this month - looking for good dealers in the York/Leeds/Scarborough area. Any recommendations?

I live in Hull, but don't want to go local due to previous bad experiences...

How much should it cost?

Harry_Boy 02 November 2004 08:48 PM

Might be a trek, but I've always done well with Monty's in Sheffield.

A and G motors YORK 01904 625890 > Gary , He has a group N rally scoob himself, so he looks after them very well !!!! cheers , Alan.

Subaru service centre in sheff or scoobyclinic chesterfield ..worth the trip to either.

corradoboy 02 November 2004 10:17 PM

The 'Clinic is very respected and around half the price of the (s)dealers.

Also been recommended Richard Henry in Bradford, but not tried him yet.

Brun 02 November 2004 10:54 PM

I assume you want a main dealer?
If this is the case then i recommend FR Pulleyn in york. They have looked after mine for the last 30k. Price is not to bad compared to other main dealers i have visited either :)

Top garage, they have rebuilt my engine and recently done an oil change, they charge about half what Well lane turbo centre charge and do a top quality job, small garage and good service, they specialise in jap cars
I recommend them

I assume Welptons are as bad as Jordans were then?

Jamesemt 03 November 2004 06:56 PM

Welptons scratched a door card on my 1 month old Scoob :(

They didn't know the difference between an STI and WRX...Won't be going there again...

ROUGH ;)

LoL >> Hawkeye,

MR_MAJ 03 November 2004 08:07 PM

R.N Golden in Huddersfield are very good, always ring if before replacing any expensive parts!! Unlike some garages in my experience where they go ahead and they you have to pay a massive bill with no choice!

My 10,000 mile cost about £80if i recall correctly

Ian E 03 November 2004 08:12 PM

I've used Pulleyns for the last four years. Always seemed ok and fair priced. However, their prices seem to have gone up substantially recently - I was quoted £210+ for a 15k service, it was £140 last time.

Any more info on Richard Henry Auto's? Where abouts in Bradford are they?

Cheers,

Ian.

Thats because they used to sell Rover cars. I once enquired about a new MGF back in 1995 when they first came out and they had pretty poor product knowledge then. Try Montys Sheffield or Triangle of Chesterfield. Both good Subaru dealers

^Qwerty^ 03 November 2004 10:35 PM

I used Pulleyns for three years. I remember one service coming in at over £500 (including rebuilding of the brakes), and another at over £400. Then again, it was a lease car so I didn't give a sh1t, and I think they knew that.

P20SPD 04 November 2004 09:05 AM

Pulleyns, i wouldnt touch with a barge pole, the whole experience of owning my 1st one, from buying to selling, was a complete pain in the ar5e. The only person there that had some sense was Nick.

Jordans, no longer exists, so now Welptons has the dealership in Hull. One of the mechanics posts on here i believe, his name is Phil, and the guys in the Hull Scoobs thread in Northern know him. If i had a standard car i would perhaps try them, but you already have, so thats a no no i guess.

Chapmans at Pickering, never dealt with them, so cant comment.

KT Green, near Otley has my vote, and was the only garage i would allow to touch my car. Charlie (Service director) and Richard (mechanic) are superb, both car nuts, richard also being a mechanic for a scoob rally crew.
