MY02 Brake Pads
Was wondering whether anybody out there would be able to give me a quick 1, 2, 3...etc on how to replace the front brake pads on an MY02 standard WRX please?
Cheers Andy :) |
obviously jack up, support on stands, take wheels off, etc........................
there are 2pins across the top of the caliper locating the pads......remove the spring clip from the rear, this allows the pins to be pushed out and the sprung plate across the top of the pads to be withdrawn.......... with very basic tools you will have to push the pistons back with a screwdriver (carefully) against the edge of the disc, this allows the pads to be withdrawn.....remove, clean and replace the metal shims from the old pads onto the new with a little copperslip on the back of pads and shims........clean the inside of calipers around pad contact areas (ideally with "brake cleaner" or similiar) place new pads in place (ensuring that pad and disc contact areas are free of copperslip, etc.!!) clean, copperslip and slide back in locating pins and srung retaining plate and replace the spring on back to stop pins moving.............. replace wheels, torque to around 65lbs/ft and "pump" the pedal a few times to contact the pistons with the discs.............. bed in dependant on spec/manufacturer and bingo!!!!!!! alyn - asperformance.com |
Cheers for that alyn :)
