No Lambda?!!!

I took my car down to a local garage yesterday to get a lambda fitted as the cars running really bad.The mechanic noticed that there is no lambda fitted to my car as there isnt a connection on the downpipe.I had the car at subaru last monday and they told me it had been by-passed.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Strange but it would just run off the fuel map on the ECU.

Personally if the car is running bad I would say it is the MAF sensor.

What year is the car? Lambda sensors are also located in the exhaust manifold (left hand bank).

What do you drive? Aint seen you around the Boro?

It's a 97 UK Turbo if that helps

Yeah, its british racing green with 18" Khans.Ive only had it a couple o months,so that probably why you havent seen me Customscooby.

I changed the maf yesterday and it seemed to be running worse.I have totally lost boost but it reads just as normal on the gauge. Its not a brand new maf but i bought it from subaru spares who test them so it shouldnt be faulty.
Ive checked all hoses and they seem fine so i dont understand whats happened.

Im going to book it in with Teesside motor factors as they are pretty good with high performance cars.

Teeside motor factors are not really that good (carnt say much here) but there is a better tuner in Northallerton can not remember the name at the moment but have a decent set of mechanics and a good rolling road. Best of luck!

If it's an early jap WRX they have the lambda sensor in the headers under the engine (drivers side, just before the up-pipe) so no lambda in the downpipe would be normal.

Sorry for cutting accross the thread but does this mean that a MY99 decat downpipe will not work on an MY95 sti considering that the lamba sensor is fitted to the actual downpipe on the my99 turbo.
thanks.

Yes it will work, you just put a bung in the lambda sensor hole on the downpipe.
