as title states lookin at one of these can i just MOT this or isthere more to it
Dont want to miss out on a good car with very little damage however it doesnt come with a V5 have beeen told i need to apply to dvla for this All help greatly appreciated Gossy |
Gossy..Cat "C"= Damaged,But repairable..Generally applies to older vehicles...Hope this helps.....I`m not sure if you`ll need to get the vehicle inspected,On this one...But i have been told..This is a straightforward general look at the numbers stamped on the vehicle...Just to verify..Its what it`s meant to be...But of course,You`ll need to book it into a DVLA inspection centre..(Like the S.V.A) Centre.........Kev.

Cat A and B can never be put back onto the road can only be used for spares, C is extensive damage and cat D is slight damage and both can be repaired and put back onto the road. All cat C and D need to be inspected before they are allowed back onto the road think you have to obtain a new MOT.

cool cool cheers guys

Not entirly correct. Cat C needs to have a VIC test, Cat D can be put back on the road after a MOT and V5 document being applied for. On both cat's the V5 will say that the car has been in a smash so not easy to sell on. Steve |
Not quite right again
I have owned 2 cat D cars in the past, the logbook never states anything, don't know where you got this from. Obviously resale will be affected, but this is ballanced out by the fact that the car will cost you a lot less in the first place, just price it to sell accordingly and it will. |
Cat goes into HPI list.
Try & get to find out what the damage was. Neph bought a Cat C Vectra that had had a bad rear-end shunt, hence write off by insurers as damaged/repairable as not worth their while shelling out for a new shell (pun!) yet they wouldn't be able to allow it to just be repaired. I had him get the geo checked to see if it was OK, which fortunately it was. |
