HELP REQ !!! Electrical Gremlins
 

HI Guys

Since the scoob became our 2nd car and is now used less and less I've been having problems with the battery going flat all the time.

Ive had a couple of new batteries and still get the same problem.
Everything seems ok at first when I get the new battery and the car will start even if it hasnt run for 6-7 days.After a while it eventually goes flat and req charging.This happens again and again with the batteries charge lasting less and less time as it it carged more often.It gets so it only lasts about 3 days in the end.

I have measured the currant drain on the battery at approx 0.25 amps, this is the same with the alarm on or off.
My scoob is a MY95 and when I have done the same test on my old mans MY00 i get the same sort of figure until the imobiliser kicks in when the drain goes down to virtually nothing.

I have tried disconnecting every fuse and relay in the car I can get to and nothing alters the amount of currant drain.The only thing that does is pulling fused link in the under bonnet fuse box which seems to kill the whole cars power dead.I have also pulled all the wires out of the alarm box(sigma) and this is no help either.

I need to know if the currant drain Im getting is normal?
What does the fused link do??
Anyone else seen anything similar??

Can someone please help as this is now driving me mad.

All the batteries Ive been using are halfords premium ones with the calcium.

BTTT has no one got any ideas ?????????

If you can't find a high current drain and are sure all connections are good inc. battery sounds like you need to get charging circuit/alternator checked out.

Fused link is like a master fuse to protect all cicuits/electrical components from disaster like connecting jump leads wrong. That is why all is dead when you disconnect it.

Tracker?

I know some of the very early units had dodgy charging circuits for the auxillary battery - would basically short out, over charge the tracker battery and flatten the main car battery.
