adding mods without remap question

Right

Car is MY00 UK, with the following

Magnex Twin Dump D/P
Magnex non reso Centre
Scoobysport BB

Ported Up-pipe
Ported & Wrapped Headers

Sti Intercooler & Pipes
PPP ECU (with restrictor to control overboost)

Have the following monitoring devices

Defi Boost
Defi Oil Pressure
Defi Fuel Pressure
AFR Gauge
Knock Link
Delta Dash

I have a VF24 Turbo & 3 port boost solenoid waiting to go on, and intend to get an uprated fuel pump & fuel reg

What I want to know is, can I fit the VF24 & something like a dawes set to 1bar to keep things capped until I can get the car remapped, or am a better just waiting till I have the funds for a remap (obviously the 3port will have to wait)

At the moment im doing mostly motorway miles, cept an upcoming RR day, then that will probably be it for the winter

No track days etc (not till summer),
(and I dont run at the Pod, Chicken you see)

Cheers

yes you can

I ran a vf23 up to 1.3 bar on the PPP ECU - wouldn't necessarily advise it, as the Prodrive timing maps are more aggressive than stock, but for sure you can do this. Main thing is to watch your gauges (knocklink for activity, DDash for timing being pulled [mine would pull up to 3.5 degrees on the VF23]).

Remap to get the best, definitely.

SiHethers quite successfully setup his VF34 with a MY00 ECU (safer timing), FCD, Delta dash retard (or NF/Methanol), adjustable fuel pressure, wideband - we exchanged some logs by email and it was all looking nice. He was happy and getting good results with no knock, sensible timing and safe AFRs, and the last I heard he wasn't planning to map it.

Thanks for the info guys

I currently have spare, an AE800, and an AE802 ECU's, the PPP is currently in the car

I do fully intend on getting a remap, just when funds allow

If I do add the mods, I will be using Opti & NF/Wynns etc and careful logging

TBH I dont thrash the car, change gear at most @ 5-6k rpm most of the time

Sonic - sorry for leading you off topic.

Just want to know where you sourced your ported headers from or did you do the work yourself? What costs were involved? PM me if you prefer.

*Sonic* 27 October 2004 01:00 AM

7 Foot, I got my Ported Headers done from someone local I know, it was an Exchange, I cant remmber the price now off the top of my head, but it was a very good job, there is a thread on here somewhere with pics of before and after when I had them done

I have another question

Can I fit an uprated fuel pump, without a FPR, or is it better to do both at once

vulnax999 27 October 2004 01:54 AM

STeve

Walbro fuel pump can over-do the std fuel reg, so it passes IIRC. Best to do both at once.

Why can't you fit the 3 port solenoid for now ... do you have the piping plan for a 3 port and return inlet on the resonator box?

Don't forget you will bet more air at same boost with the bigger turbo, but within limits the ECU should cope.

With your delta dash and defi's you should be able to see how it is all working.

NF - remind me if you want some, I have some left.

Boost is completly different with a 3 port to a 2 port, so it cannot be put on without a remap

Might try some NF, but do prefer the single bottle per tank ones

Yeah on the Air Flow hence using a dawes to cap the boost
